Fergie had lined up Messi in March!

Ok, before I begin I should warn you that the information in this article that I will share comes to me from my dog's best friend's owner's sister's Aunt. and I have no way of either confirming or denying it.

You can choose to believe it or choose not too, its up to you. I am simply passing on information I have heard.

However it could account for the rumors that were prevalent during the summer regarding Messi's switch to Old Trafford. If it is true though, then the appointment of David Moyes could be Fergie's last big howler at United.

Apparently the information comes from a source within Old Trafford. And that's as much as I will say about that.

So, the story goes Fergie had sorted the deal for Messi some time in March. So after he had decided to leave and appoint Moyes. This means he surely would have told Moyes of his intention to bring in Leo, as nothing could really happen until the summer, which makes the rest of the story a little worrying.

Messi would have returned during the summer transfer window, but not too early on as Barca were lining up Neymar and wouldn't let him leave until he had signed on the dotted line.

Anyway, this is where it gets a bit fraught.

Once Moyes was in charge he decided at the last minute that he wasn't going to pursue the Messi deal, infuriating Fergie to the point that, apparently, he had Moyes by the throat and had to be prised off him by security!!

His reason for not wanting his return? IF United had won anything this season with Messi, Moyes was worried it would be seen as Leo's return and not his management that was the source of Uniteds success.

As a side, to me that is absolutely ridiculous if true. I'm sure Fergie would have made it look like Moyes had signed the deal for LM10, thus giving him instant hero status with the United fans; Moyes was the man who successfully brought Messi home, he has earned the right to our patience!

If you think about what had happened over the summer it kind of makes sense.

It beggars belief that Moyes would have been aware of this impending transfer, and how much Messi means to United fans and Fergie, for him to pull out at the last minute. Moyes has previous with Fergie too. If you recall SAF advised him not to remove his established back room staff, to which he instantly did. I understand Moyes might want to bring in his own people who he knows he can work with but surely it would have made his transition easier?!
No wonder, if true Fergie wanted to rip his throat out!

Make of it what you will.
