Not to stir up too much of a fuss. May I ask why the England Cricket team is so called?
When I joined the forces, many moons ago, I stupidly put down English when I signed the forms, only to be told that as I was born in Northern Ireland (both my patents are English), I was British.
Surely the English Test side must be under the same rules???
Good on Jack for daring to say the obvious. No, not every one will agree, but if you want it to be an English Team, then the players should be English.
Don´t all shout at once.
who are england

I was born here. My parents were not.... What does that make me?

British

Sky red- don't drink. Never have. Never will. Do I still qualify to play for England? I will support and cry when England lose at the footy though, or just lower my expectations
Leilton- so Britishness doesn't qualify me to play for England on that basis?

English = born and bred in England.
British = Could be either English, Scottish, Welsh or N. Irish or someone who holds a British passport through entitlement???

Fella your English in my eyes. You was born here. Understandable you should also be proud of your ancestry roots and heritage too.

What a ridiculous article.
"i don´t make the rules, but have to say, agree with them-."
WHAT rules? Wilshire was applying his own rules, the rules as they stand make it possible to play for England under the residency rules.THEY are the rules.
By your own high standards i presume that Ted Dexter would not have played for England (a chap who, when you talk to him is the very epitome of 'English' and probably speaks it better than you!) because he was born in Milan!!
I would certainly not question the right of KP to play for England, he is red white and blue through and through, NEVER had an allegiance to SA and lives in London with his English girlfriend .... and what right do YOU have, or indeed Wilshire to question that?
And by the way i am a Yorkshireman and as proud as anyone that i was born in Yorkshire, my parents were and my grandparents and great grandparents before that. I assume that probably makes me more 'English' than you!

drbantam isn't English - he's a proud Yorkshireman (a country within a country).
I doubt if he's a doctor either.

Yes, but before that you put down on your forms English didn't you? Hence my point.
No-one REALLY considers themselves British do they, lets be honest? Your either English Scottish or Irish and usually pretty proud of it. The only time Britain gets mentioned is when Andy Murray is at Wimbledon or its the Olympics!!
