A lot of us Man United fans are still split in the middle in this particular debate of who is the better fit in our midfield.
Yes I know the Carrick plays as a holding midfielder and Cleverley is an attacking midfielder but I personally thought the big key to us turning around the match against City at Wembley last sunday was the taking off of Carrick and the introductio of young Tom.
We suddenly became a faster team , a more active team and more importantly a better attacking side. And the results were there for all to see.
I know Carrick is a pretty good player and the fact that we've been champions of England 4 of the last 5 years with him as a regular on the team means he must be doing something right but let''s face it he also tends to come up with the odd big mistakes that often cost us matches.
I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Cleverley starting more matches this season than Carrick (with Fletcher playing just behind him ) because it makes us a more attacking and dangerous side going forward.
Am I wrong on this?
Carrick v Cleverley

The basis of your argument is that in the second half Carrick went off and Cleverley went on. Then we scored 3 goals. Therefore Cleverley adds a better dimension to the team than Carrick does and next season should play instead of him.
Vidic also went off and Evans came on. We then stopped conceding sloppy goals which Vida was at fault for both. It could have cost us the match. It gave us a chance to get back in the game. Evans surged forwards more than Vida would have too.
The thing is the blame will always land with Carrick never any of the other players who were much more to blame for the first half than him.

Last season
United 5 - 0 Brum
United 7 - 1 Blackburn
Go check the midfield duo who played in those games
The best pair we have is Carrick and Ando in my opinion

You'll do well to get a balanced debate regarding Carrick from 'RedBlackandWhiteside' and 'Thunderkiss_65.'...

unlike your opinion of Carrick do you mean?

I had plenty of reasoned debate in that other article then we got you chiming in blaming Carrick for everything without ever backing up what you say.

Fletcher and Sneijder to be our main Midfielders next season!

Why should I have to back up what I say? What is 'back up' anyway?
I think Carrick is an average player at best, why do I have to back this up. I'm sure you'll find thousands of supporters round the land that think the same.

Backing up things you say with facts or figures is how most people debate/argue.
You don't have to back it up but discounting somebody else's opinion and never entering reasoned debate because you can't see past your own opinion won't win you many arguments.

I enjoy watching cleverly play for united, but I'd love to see the midfield pairing of anderson and carrick given a run of games and see how it develops.
I agree with UnitedRedMacca- I taught Rooney and berbatov the overhead kick the games aginst birmingham and blackburn were two of our best performances last season, when carrick and anderson were running things. It was a performance full of fluent, exciting football
