Positive Press...

Hello Redmen (and women),

I’m 36 years old and have a wife and daughter. I have been supporting the mighty LFC since the Roy Evans days and though I love many current and former players dearly, I would say my all time favourite would have to be Robbie Fowler (the peroxide version in particular). I have not been to Anfield since the Benitez days (1-0 victory over Blackburn, Cisse the scorer). Despite this (and the fact I am not from, or live in the great city) I consider myself a “real" Liverpool Football Club supporter.

(I post all of the above bluster because I know some of you are very sceptical of new posters credentials. So I hope this brief synopsis will put everyone at ease).

Now I may be late to the table with this but here goes…
Each week I press the Sky info button to read who is on Sunday Supplement. 9 times out of 10 I don’t bother watching it as most guests are agenda pushing, blinkered numpties. Those journos I find most thoughtful include Oliver Holt, Sam Wallace and Paul Hayward. Last week Paul Hayward was guesting so I decided to watch.

There was a journo on I’ve not seen before called Antony Kastrinakis (I think he is Spanish). Unfortunately he writes for The Sc-um Newspaper, but he made two very positive assertions about our club.
Firstly, from a European football perspective there is still absolutely no doubt that, along with United, Liverpool are seen as by far the biggest Club in England (our recent Champs League wilderness not having much negative impact as yet).
Secondly, he said with absolute conviction, that Liverpool will win the PL under Brendan within the next three years. He portrayed Brendan as the next GREAT manager of the English game.

As I say I’ve no idea who this dude is or how valid his opinions will turn out to be. I just wanted to share this with you all as at present our club is often attacked or belittled in the media.

Thanks for reading – lets batter the Magpies!!

Suspicious of anyone who is 36 and became a fan in the Roy Evans era (94-99).

That means you were 17 at least before you became a fan.

The plot thickens.

3 years is not impossible but I'd say we'd have to get pretty much every transfer right in the next 18 months and, in all likelihood, get the right players relatively cheap as well.

The biggest problem will be replacing Suarez because I genuinely don't expect him to be at the club in 3 years time.

Anyone suspicious that GB may actually be a sports writer...

I love GB he is optimistic, why not

Football changes too quickly to make any kind of prediction like this.

We will win the Prem at some point, no idea if that will be under Rodgers or if it will be this season or in 20 seasons.

R1 – I was indeed 17 when I became a fan. I take it the synopsis didn’t manage to put you at ease… Well I did try

Sir Robert – I’m don’t think I can pass the infallible test you set. Maybe you can reach your own conclusion over time

I have no idea what you mean

Welcome OP BTW.

I like Brendan too, he's brought back a very strong team set up where everybody is working hard together. He has harnessed talent like Sturridge who was seen as trouble by many including myself so he has proven what a good manager he is.

Not sure about the tactic changes and the seeming about turn on playing the possession game but there we go.
