In the pop world one hit wonders are often celebrated, the likes of Chesney Hawkes, Billy Ray Cyrus and Whigfield are loved more now than back in their heyday.
But what about the football equivalents? Players who have come in from average-ness and looked world beaters for one season, before returning to obscurity.
I will start you off by offering up Martin Hayes. He slowly started to replace veteran Graham Rix in the Arsenal side of the 80s, and then in the 1986/87 season Hayes established himself not only a vital payer, but also Arsenals top scorer. A bright future looked certain, England international caps a given. Then in the 87/88 season he slipped back to a bang average player, and he was soon back to warming benches.
So who are the 'one hit wonders' of your club, and also your faves from other clubs?
One season wonders...

But drogba played less games then rooney that year so one goal less would of no doubt been more and had more assists and scored against better teams
.................
they both played 44 games and overall drogba scored one more goal
rooney scored home and away against arsenal, home against city and liverpool, away at spurs, away in munich and 4 goals against Milan. Not exactly poor teams ey. They both had a very similar season

Drogs scored more than Rooney in fewer games, wasn't our main penalty taker and had his season interrupted by the ACON to boot!
Rooney's advantage was nationaliity and a World Cup that year

And Rooney was only scoring tap ins

Exactly les, Drogba could well have had 6-8 more appearances from when he was at ACON and just trounced him.

I don't get people saying they played 44 games and only one goal more. Drogba scored 3 or 4 more and assisted more.
And none were pens makes it remarkable. So you sir are the numbnuts
Drogba 44-37
Rooney 44-34
