Sad news coming out of Australia of the death of Porsche Supercup championship leader Sean Edwards. I've cheered him on for many years from Stowe corner in the F1 support races and at 26 is a great loss to the sport.

Terrible news. I've got nothing but sympathy for his friends and family.
This coupled with the death of Maria de Villota has left another dark cloud hanging over motorsport only a few years after a week in which Dan Wheldon and Marko Simoncelli lost their lives.
For all the advances that have been made in the way of safety this serves as a bleak reminder that motor racing is still an incredibly dangerous sport.

Yes, I was shocked on hearing this very sad news indeed, I really feel for his family and friends.
Condolences to all of them on their tragic loss.

Tragic news. I understand that Sean was a passenger and coaching a young driver. The driver was seriously injured and it took 2 hours to extract him from the car. So I hope he makes a full recovery.
Earlier this year I watched the Le Mans 24 Hr race and Allan Simonsen was killed. I did not see the accident but I saw the aftermath which was horrendous. The FIA stated that they would hold a full investigation into the incident but I have not been able to find their results.
Rumour was that there was a tree immediately behind the crash barrier which prevented the barrier from absorbing the energy of the impact.
It annoys me when people sneer at issues of health and safety. Often they are people sitting behind desks suffering paper cuts or accidentally stapling their finger.
One sad individual on this forum embarrassingly dismissed Niki Lauda's crash as
“not as serious as some people try to make out because he was racing weeks later”
and declared that the Felipe Massa incident was
“a biff on the head from a bed spring”
I wonder if the same individual has heard of a driver called Ayrton Senna? Was he tragically killed by a “biff on the head”?

Tragic for someone to die like that at age 26. Surely we can do better in regards to the tyre barriers still used.

why didnt you have the guts to confront the fellow forum member one to one concerning his comments about massa at the time the comments were made if they upset you so much instead of using a topic about the very unfortunate dead driver sean edwards to hurl bile at a fellow forum member -
