Both men are almost identical but I give Heskey more on the power front.
Both seemed to be classed as a ' hold up kind of striker ',
' holds the ball well up ' kind of player. A term that's used so much now and lets be honest, a deluded media term given to a supposed striker that is weak in front of goal.
Heskey was the butt of all jokes for years at Club and Country. Welbeck seems to be this generations Heskey.
Both scored the odd goal for Club and Country, both have been bl00dy awful too, in fact most of the time. Welbeck was shocking tonight.
So guys.............who is worse?
Heskey in his prime or Welbeck?
Welbeck Vs Heskey

I didnt know that it's impossible to score from the wing. God knows how other players have managed to score from playing out wide.

Welbeck isn't a winger. Nor is he a composed finisher.
Last night his attitude was spot on but his overall game wasn't
Compare that to Sturrudge who needed to be told that there were some other England players on the pitch last night

So what does Welbeck being to the table?

Sturridge didn't have a great game but was still far better than Welbeck, who was woeful. He was better second half, even if it was defensively.
Remember when I told you Rooney wasn't playing well as his heart wasn't in it as something was going on and you told me that I was wrong, it's because he's lost ability etc etc. This is sort of the same situation here. You'll see that Welbeck isn't good enough, he only plays for England because he plays for United, which I don't see lasting too long.

Wellbeck is never going to be a class striker, so he should stop playing as though he is. He's OK when he's running at the defence. But when stuck in the middle of the defence his feet aren't fast enough to get a killer shot in. So he just blasts and hopes. And it doesn't work. Stick say Bent in the same position and the ball would be in the net.
But Bent isn't going to get a look in. So Hodgson either has to find another centre forward or work out a different style up front. Maybe he should give Wellback a Heskey DVD.
