It's starting to get a bit repetitive now, but if you tune in to the Scotland u16 Victory Shield match against Northern Ireland on Sky Sports 2 you'll get to see the next generation in action.
We're 2 goals to the good with both goals, predictably, being scored by a Dundee United kid - young Ali Coote is the main man. And fyi, he's even a little younger than the rest of the boys with him being a couple of years below some of the boys on the park.
There are also a couple of boys from outwith Scotland in the squad - Charlie Gilmour of Arsenal and Joshua Laws of Fortuna Dusseldorf!
Hopefully the young Scots go out and get a few more in the second half.

Yeah what you're looking for is the basics - passing, technique etc
2nd half hasn't been great but they all look comfortable on the ball.
Coote now going off after getting a wee knock.

Certainly you'd expect to see a difference with them training more and working harder on there game with the performance schools.

They seem to be playing a 442 diamond formation. Not sure if they've played that throughout - they like the kids to play either that formation or 433 depending on formation - that's throughout the age groups.

3-0 Scotland in stoppage time.
N.Ireland corner and the keeper comes up - Hill of Celtic receives the ball, sprints away from a defender, checks inside and fires in to the net.

Full Time.
Decent second half with both teams trying to play football. N Ireland started better but Scotland got back on top and finished much stronger. Both teams suffered from players holding the ball a little too long and could have been a little sharper in passing but some decent touch and technique on show.
Scotland next play in Wales while N.Ireland travel to England.

Chu - from what I saw the boy for Celtic Calvin Miller. Just commented on it on Barlow's thread about him - hadn't realised he was the best player in the world for his age group!

Never heard of the lad.
Good to hear though.

Seen some pretty damn good players turn out for Scotland schooolboys and up through the ranks to the U'19s over the years but just how many of them actually break through into the 'big' team?
If Scotland get one or two from this squad it'll be fantastic but the odds against them are getting longer every season.
