GREGORY HAT TRICK.
Two lads knocking goals in for this lot.
Layfayette 9
& Clarke 5 He also has 3 's !
that's half as many as Gallagher on 6 watch your ankle's Gregory !!
They sit just outside the playoff positions on 25 pts.
We could have done with a win this last few weeks to have kept us right up there with them..
Still.
If we win tomorrow, that's where we'll be,
Level on 25 pts with them.
Outcome,
Welling away as follows,
all 'aways' = played 7 won 3 drawn 1 lost 3.
last 6 games is even better !
P 6
W 4
D 1
L 1.
TOWN. 2 consecutive draws, & our last win was v Chester at the back end of Sept.
Need to get back to 'winning' again...
There are some good consistent teams in this league, If you slip up, or drop a point here & there, it seems these sides just ever so slowly pull away making that gap all the while bigger.
Going on current form,
I'd say we are looking at a draw again ...
Hope I'm wrong.
Town need to put in a special performance to get all 3 points from this fixture.
AT AT AW.
Shaymen 3-0 Welling United.

Fortress Shay, but we can't win away
Hopefully that'll all change in the FA Cup next week, hoping to have some interest in the 1st Round draw.

Champers
Not half' arf arf.. terrific 1st half.
Just waiting for our mate 'FC' to do his bit now
All I see from yesterday is a strong performance, dominated possession. made all the shots..locked out their efforts - Glennon penalty save - & only 13 hundred turned out to see it ..
I feel for them I really do.
What do they have to present before the locals give them the support they deserve ?
I noticed 3 thou seems to be a good 'gate' in this league at the moment,
Fair do's..
Surely the Shaymen should be getting 2 thou + for the home games....Still unbeaten at home,
The darn side of local apathy ..

Come on TOWN.

As you mentioned before, really could do without a replay. The FA Trophy surely provides the best chance of reaching Wembley.

Welling Wilt at the Fortress, whilst Gregory Goes Goal Crazy.
Lee Gregory will be a name Welling fans won't want mentioning anytime soon as he single handedly gave the Shaymen the 3 points by scoring a fine hattrick and sending Welling fans home wishing they had never made the 470 mile round trip.
Gregory got in the goal scoring mood early on as an inch perfect cross from the right hand touchline by Adam Smith allowed Gregory to have a headed effort on goal only to be denied by the Welling keeper. However instead of palming the ball over the bar, keeper just tipped the ball in the air and allowed Gregory to get a 2nd headed effort on target and the ball nestled in the bottom right hand side of the goal to give the Shaymen an early lead after 7 minutes.
Halifax never looked from then on in as they totally controlled the next 20 minutes of the game resulting in Welling not even getting a shot in. The pressure from the Shaymen paid dividend again in on 24 minutes when the ball was punted into the area, and Gregory from around the penalty spot produced an acrobatic overhead head kick, which an gymnast would have been proud of to find the back of the next again. Halifax were 2-0 up and the Shaymen faithful were hoping for a goal fest at this stage.
It was not before long Gregory sealed his hat trick as on 36 minutes a clinical by line pass from Smith cut the Welling defence apart and Gregory coolly slotted the ball into an empty goal to give the Shaymen a 3-0 lead after 36 minutes, which was nothing less than they deserved.
It wasn't till just before half time that Welling had there first shot, but it was ended up half way up the South Stand, but it would have been a perfect drop goal which the likes of Kevin Sinfield and Lee Briers would have been proud of. Welling were given a lifeline 5 minutes before half time as they were awarded a penalty after the referee said Toulson had pulled a Welling player to the floor. However this decision result in abuse from the the Town fans towards the referee as it should never have been a penalty. The chants of all we want is a decent referee would have fitted in nicely but it was never forthcoming to my disappointment.
The Welling player stepped up to strike the ball but the connection of power puff and allowed Glennon to pull off a great save to his left and allowed the Shaymen to go into the half time break at 3-0.
The second half was nothing to write home about and the fans might as well have left at half time as the entertainment factor wad never forthcoming in the second half and was in total contrast to the first half. In a nutshell the second half was like an end of season game where there was nothing at steak.
The final whistle was greeted by a roar of approval from the faithful whilst Welling fans contemplated there 285 mile trip home. Gregory was given the Man of the Match for his fine effort and attended was 1,345 of which 52 were from Welling.
This result leaves the Shaymen 11th in the Conference after 16 games and 2 points off the play offs but still searching for there elusive first away win of the season.

Great match report
I heard Duzza was chanting at the Welling fans "did you come in a taxi", however his joy soon turned to sadness as he found out the mighty Saints had got a point at Old Trafford to cost him his accumulator. Got to appreciate the loyal support that travelled all that way, and it is a decent effort compared to Lazio's 6 recorded at Elland Road around 12 years ago.
You hoping for a good cup run again and will the West Riding Cup be retained?

The West riding takes place in a few weeks at Harrogate Railway and I will be hoping it is retained. Who much did that goal cost Duzza?

He didn't say only that it was a 5 team bet. Watford cost me £120, yet on Virtual Bookies I put Man City rather than the Hornets
