It's tough at the top. Can't see MC, Chelsea or Arsenal being out of the top 4. Which leaves you, MU, and Liverpool, with maybe Everton as an outsider, fighting for the fourth slot. Tough. Think you're dead cert top 6 though.
It'll take us two years to be a comfortable top 8. We've about the same chance of making it this year as you have of making top 4. It'll be interesting to see where we both are when we meet at the Lane. We play better away. Could make our season and upset yours. Or not.

I think we resent Spurs because they showed more ambition to get 4th spot and have continued growing as a club in the last five years whereas we have gone so far backwards. Yet in the 90s and early millenium we were always similar in stature and we in all honesty probably had better players.
What frustrated me watching the game yesterday was how poor our football is. Swansea have operated on a smaller budget than us and yet can actually play possession football, as can Southampton. We just hoof it. Surely it has been plain evident for ghe last five years we've needed a top quality central midfield playmaker. Or failing that just someone who can carry a midfield and play a pass - I.e. Gareth Barry, who we were bloomin offered in August but stupidly turned down. What also frustrated me was watching Spurs with all their quality and watching us with all our average ones.
I'm sorry but we can't take the mick out of Spurs any more. Years ago players like Weimann and Westwood would not have got on our bench even yet now they're playing every damn game. It's madness how we were ever talked about as genuine top 4 contenders with the level of ambition this club has.

Spurs fan's arrogance is unbelievable even though they have won naff all of any note (EVER).
Arrogant, classless, over rated and now sleazy so it is not surprising that other fans perceive them as the Michael Barrymore of english football.

I don't resent Spurs. I think we're similar clubs as regards long term ambition. Good bit of healthy rivalry. Under MON we were the better team, now Spurs are. Good luck to them. Except when we play them. And vice versa. But you'd think they'd have the decency to settle for a draw after we thrashed Arsenal for them.
What does get up my nose is things like trying to prise Benteke away for peanuts. And hoping we'd take their cast-offs. Which stupidly with Hutton and Jenas we did. But we've learnt. It wasn't as bad as Liverpool trying to get Barry for peanuts; I blame Dagleish for that. Good thing we didn't, and we got our own back by selling them Downing for loads.
