Goals - Step Up who ???

Not the best not the worst result today. Gave it a good go against a top contender team.

BUT - Vaughan - so who will score the goals now, maybe (despite personnel) an area where we are lacking a guaranteed goal threat. So who do we reckon will step up - Patterson/Steady ? Think we are running out of "strikers/finishers/poachers or why" after that. yes we can hope for midfield/winger goals, but can Steady/Patto (45 mins each ?) tide us over, or or or really come good in our 'our of need ?

Any Eyedeas ?

He keeps on saying they need to "believe"! Where have we heard that before!

Some of you b-ggers need a reality check . Town did OK today against a team who thrashed us 6-1 in the corresponding fixture last season, who have also spent a bucket load of money in an attempt to win promotion and probably have a wage bill which three times greater than ours.

Having said that, by all accounts we were in no way disgraced today and only lost by the odd goal, away to a side who will probably be playing in the Premiership next season.

So what do you lot expect for your money - parity with the likes of QPR, Watford, Leicester, Forest and all the other Championship leagues big spenders, because if this is the case then need to get it firmly into your heads that Town are small club, with a small budget, compared to many in this league and that Hoyle, Robins and Co, are doing an excellent job, given the reality of operating in the championship and trying to run a steady ship.

As for Vaughan being suspended - so what, because the likes of Paterson, and Stead etc. should be chomping at the bit to prove their championship credentials, or are we as some of you lot appear to believe, "a one man band"

So I say bring on Leeds and lets see some of you lot eat some humble pie for a change.

Changed my mind.

Loui isn't Dean Hoyle. Mirf is.

A 1 million pound star signing, that let's be honest is the only real quality we've got, or stead and Paterson, both freebies

I know who I'd prefer upfront.

Fingers crossed they do well .

If Town are quicker in their passing and move faster to the ball, then a decent pass to anyone up front should be enough to score.

This could prove to be a make or break time for Paterson, who we all know, just hasn't got going for Town yet. If he could bag a few goals, while Vaughan is having anger management lessons, then we may just have another decent striker in our midst.

UTT!

Patto will do it for us against Leeds .Mark my words .
He's the main man now not Vaughan . Just like he's the main man for Ireland and we all know how he does it for them .

Although I didn't go to Leicester, I did have the 'benefit' of Oggy and O'Regan's live comments...

O'Regan was going mental , again, at how slow we are...slow to get forward, slow to get back, slow to challenge...Leicester looked dangerous everytime they broke away...even from when we'd had a corner...they attacked quickly in numbers leaving our lazy lot stood watching...

You don't have to be a £1m footballer to be able to run..but somehow at Town idleness is endemic..

This has been the case for too many weeks now and I'm lost for an explanation as to why it happens game after game..

Yes, we put up a better performance than the 1-6, we could hardly have done worse...but the reality is but for some wayward finishing and some fine goalkeeping by Smithties, it could easily have been another 6.

Sure, we created several openings this time...but the risk is when we attack, we can't get back quick enough to defend.

I watched the Football League show last night and was impressed at the energy and drive seen in some of the lower league teams, not to mention those previously shown on MOTD.

So what exactly is the problem with our lack of energy ?

Robins has rabbited on about us not getting up to support Vaughan, and not helping out our defence for months now...but it seems we just don't have the committed players to put in the extra effort.

When young Holmes comes on he stands out a mile from the more 'experienced' pro's..because he runs, he beats players and he can pass a decent ball to the strikers..

So, someone tell me why , despite the numerous midfield players we have, they simply refuse to work ?

...and what is the solution...

All I heard yesterday was how easily Leicester were passing the ball amongst themselves from the back, through the middle right up to our penalty box...while when our defenders got the ball they were closed down immediately and more often than not gave the ball away in a panic clearance...

Robins really does need to sort this out before we slip any further down the league table and end up on the fringe of the drop zone, like we did last season.

I fear for the fragile confidence of our squad if we end up in another relegation battle...

Jacko - no, no, no. Don't rely on Kieren O'Rambleincoherently - surely you must have sussed from his post-match home summaries that when something goes right we're world beaters and when something goes wrong, we're in crisis.

Town were very good yesterday - very good. If anything we were a bit naive pushing forward and were hit on the break a lot in the first half but I spoke to a few Leicester fans in the pub afterwards and they were very impressed and surprised by our overall quality.

I'd happily pay money to watch a game like yesterday - much more than any boring, aimless, stupifying wins/draws we got under Clark and Grayson.

Onwards and upwards (eventually, just watch).

Oh, and you could be right - Robins may pitch in Carr next week because he knows where the back of the net is. I can't see him using Patterson -think he knows he's made a mistake there already.

Fair comment eggnog...two different versions of the game, I know O'Regan gets a bit 'excited'...whereas Oggy doesn't really do a commentary more a chat show with a few match facts thrown in...

We did sound to give the ball away a lot, Dixon and Gerrard, then Gobern before he got subbed..but if your opponents are quicker then they'll always nip in and pinch the ball first..
