Mean defence!

A lots been made of our exciting attacking players, but let's not forget the defense.

@BaggiesFacts: Only 3 clubs in the Premier League have conceded less than Albion on 6. We have conceded just 0.75 goals per game so far this season. #WBA

4th best defensive record in the whole league!!!

Myhill - has been brilliant since he's came in for Foster. A number 1 in his own right. So improved and I'd keep him in goal personally until form or injury dictate otherwise. Even when Foster is back!

Jones - most improved player I've ever seen at The Hawthorns. Roy said that he's going to be using a vary of players for upcoming friendlies before he picks his WC squad. Billy should be one of those.

McAuley - our most consistent player. I don't think I've ever seen him have an 'off' game! Bold statement but I think he's our best ever Premier League player. (Close with him and Gera).

Olsson - back to his best. We all know he's class when he's on it and so far this season...he has been! Spoke out himself of 'burnout ' last year, which may of contributed to his poor run!

Ridgewell - probably the weakest link of the back 5 but I think he's had a good month. He's improved these past 3/4 games and I hope he keeps it up.

Yacob - Mulumbu partnership - these guys obviously help the defense massively. Mulumbu is probably our best player and Yacob looks back to his best. And his best is World class.

A good defence always gives you a good base to build on and that's exactly what we have. A very underrated defence. I can't remember the last time we got roasted for example? We also have some decent back up - Reid, Lugano, Dawson, Popov, Daniels.

here's to the defence

Nailed on we will make an absolute meal out of it even if we do win. We wouldn't be Albion if we didn't make a mess out of beating the 'lesser' teams. They do look abysmal though.

Shane Longs future in doubt.

Is it just me that wouldn't be sad to see him move on?

Hi JH - we seem to be a bit thin on the ground on this site. I hope it will get better. You are doing a sterling job.

We are playing well at the moment but I hope I haven't come back to jinx them. You see I was in Guadeloupe last year when we beat Wigan, Chelsea and Sunderland to go 3rd and it went downhill the day I came back.
I have just come back from 3 weeks in Cuba during which time we have beaten United and had very good draws with Arsenal and Stoke.

I have to say I have a bad feeling about Liverpool because we have won 4 out of the 5 against them and they will be out for revenge. Hope I am wrong.

Very much agree about Myhill - he is very much a first team contender now.
Big pat on the back to Steve Clark. He is getting big performances from every player.

Agree, it would be a shame to lose such a wholehearted player but there is one simple way for a striker to make himself indispensable isn't there?

Hi Alouion.

Hope you had a good time on your travels pal

Yes, the board does seem pretty dead on the whole. Shame, 'cause I do my best to keep making interesting up to date articles....so we have stuff to debate/talk about.

Doesn't seem to be working though. Struggling to see the point anymore tbh mate.

Not long ago losing Shane would have been a massive problem for us. Not so now.
He will run and run and run but with very little end result, i.e goals.

It's a great shame to say this but I think we have moved on and left him behind a little bit.
Time to cash in?

Yes.

But....

Vydra is only on loan
Anelka may retire
Rosenberg will go

That would leave us with Anichebe, Berahino (who looks like being converted into a winger anyway) and Long.

Guess Olly doesn't have to stress about coming to the Hawthorns.

He's already left Palace.

Would be a shame to see Long go especially if that leaves Rosenberg and Anelka still here, that would make us weaker imo

Long offers us a lot of falling over.
