This is my first article on this website, i have over the past few months browsed articles to see what other united fans feel about our beloved team. Over these months, i have heard points regarding about the appointment of Moyes. Some I agree with and others which i totally disagree with. Here is my take on things, i have few things to share. I hear united fans mention several things when they talk about the appointing of David Moyes. These are the following: * Longevity * Understanding the history of the club * Youth
I agree, any manager who wishes to take over at old trafford should cover all these requirements. As fans like to point out, David Moyes ticks all the boxes, he has enjoyed a lengthy stay at everton, kept them competitive for a mid table team. Shows great respect for the club and its prior history, and has mentioned himself that he read up more about united's history, once he got the job. Lastly, he gives youth a chance, rooney, barkely and this year the introduction of adan januzaj. Moyes correctly does tick these boxes, but however surely becoming the manager for one of the biggest clubs in the world, their should be more to this. The following which i expect.
A Winner - Surely to take on a club as big as this, you should have some experience in winning a league or at least a cup. How could we just hire someone who hasn't proven has what it takes to win a trophy. Harry Redknapp, alex mcleish and roberto martinez have all won a trophy in the last 10 years with clubs arguably worse than everton. Now relax, i am not saying that we should hire these manager, but at least they have something to show.
Style - I for one am fed up with the football man utd have produced over the last couple of years. We have not shown the vintage man utd which we all love, that team which excites you, loves to attack, loves to finish off teams. When Sir Alex finally retired, i thought it could be a breath of fresh air, a new manager, new tactics, a new united. Sadly moyes has not brought the style i associate with united, and i feel he never will. Times have changed in football, in Europe you can see the better teams are playing fast, direct, quick passing football, defending higher up the pitch. The concept of winning the ball in the oppositions half is something i admire.
Passion - A love a team and a manager which show passion, the burning desire to win at all costs. Sir alex installed this in all his team and players, the likes of cantona, keane, ronaldo and even had RVP playing for him, the club and the fans.
These are main aspects for myself, when it comes to picking a manager. One thing which you might have noticed is that Sir Alex embodies all of these characteristics. The perfect choice when we hired him. So why not take what made us choose the best manager ever lived to replace him. Moyes therefore does not fit the bill, but who does then??
Jose? The champion as he is, doesn't quite play the football i would like to see. Also he will think he is bigger than the club, and clearly his passion lies at stamford brigde.
Pep? Who honestly would not appoint pep as their manager for their club. In his short term as a manager has won numerous trophies, including beating man utd twice in the champions league final. Plays good football, perfect fit? Maybe, but he admitted he jumped on the chance to manager Bayern, and at this moment in time, who is to blame him.
But there lies one more manager. A manager who loves to see out his contract at a club, loyal to the end. A man who has turned down big jobs in Europe to stay at his current club. Someone who is proud of a clubs history, makes the players know who they are playing for, what the badge represents on the shirt. A man who loves to give youth a chance, not only bringing them through the clubs academy, but also finding brilliant young players at a cheap price and turning them into champions. Yes a man who has won league titles and cups. Someone who isn't afraid to play brilliant attacking football, quick and precise, just devastating. A man who wears the badge on his sleeve, always showing the passion to win, and no, it isn't wenger.
This man is Jurgen Klopp. Undeniable what this man has achieved with Borussia Dortmund. Anyone who watches them on a weekly basis can see how great this man is. Got his team playing brilliant football, a young team. Their team which made it to the UCL cost no more than 40 mill. A team who has won the league two titles in a row.
However, this is should be the next manager to take over. Klopp has stated that he wants to see out his contract at dortmund which expires in 2016. In this it will also be half way through David Moyes contract at united. In this year, and this year only, we should judge Moyes on what he has achieved at United. If it hasn't won a trophy, then we must do whatever we can to get Klopp. However, i would love to see Moyes succeed, as it means so would united, the main thing.
Only choice

Have to be honest, I actually think now that Klopp is slightly overrated. I'll explain why tomorrow though as it will take a while!

Moyes didn't play Barkley that much, yes he gave him his debut but often last season had him kicking his heels on the bench while P.Neville was eating up the game time.

The author's passion and serious consideration of the topic are tangible and laudable. I also encourage his burgeoning talent for that invaluable rhetorical device of the footballing world, the mixed metaphor, and look forward to Manchester United issuing a new jersey with the badge relocated to the sleeve.

It annoys me when people use 'installed' rather than 'instilled'. It's the new 'their, they're or there'.

One has to wonder why a manager realised a player wasn't good enough for a midfield position in Everton but thinks he is good enough for Manchester United.

I think Ferguson's departure was unexpected. A quick appointment was required. Overwhelming need at United is for a manager who will work with the owners - i.e. won't kick off when money goes to Uncle Malc rather than to strengthen the team. Therefore no egos, so no superstars like Pep or Maureen.
Klopp wasn't available, and also looks to me as too big a personality for United. Personally I also think he is overrated.

Very good article and agree fully with your thoughts on Moyes, Mou and Pep.
I wouldnt mind Klopp but the guy I would like to see take over is/was Diego Simeone. I feel guys like Klopp, Simeone and say Conte weren't looked at because of the 'no prem experience' tag which i think is total bs. Look at Potchettino and how quickly he put his mark on southampton, Laudraup at Swansea, and AVB given the freedom to put his stamp on Spurs.
I would love for Moyes to succeed but i dont think he has that edge that players AND managers at this great club should possess.
So lets start talking abt Diego Simeone, i would h.ate to see him at a prem rival....

So your article states - after the fact you're a long time reader, first time poster. (WUM alert) -
a) SAF's the best ever. (obvious)
b) Moyes isn't good enough (hindsight is wonderful, but 8 games in??? )
c) Mourinho would play unattractive football and think he's bigger than the club. (cliche)
d) Guardiola would've been good (So would winning the lottery. There was no chance of us getting him)
e) Klopp is the greener grass we should be grazing on (about 3 months late with this, and pretty boring.)
f) You want us to judge Moyes on 1 season? (ridiculous)
g) YOu want Moyes to succeed. (are you sure. You won't get Klopp for Christmas if this happens)

I was really suprised that Utd didnt go for Klopp to replace Fergie although having said that I suspect that Utd did approach Klopp about the Utd job.
Its quite possible that Klopp turned Utd down because he is onto a good thing with Dortmund and the prospect of being the man to directly replace Fergie is a daunting task for any manager.
I suspect Moyes was a plan B or even a plan C for Utd.
