Daniel Kvyat confirmed at STR for 2014

You all seem pretty busy insulting each other and trying to wind each other up but in the mean time theres been some actual F1 news!

19yo Russian, Daniel Kvyat, has been officially announced as Vergne's partner at STR! It was a little out of the blue but given Costa's (another RB young driver) recent poor form Sainz and Kvyat have been thrust into the limelight.

Some are suggesting money is behind his seat but given the cash Red Bull flashes I doubt this is a major factor. He's missing a step by jumping from GP3 but he's obviously got talent even at his early age. I think he'll be a hit in F1 but only time will tell!

Any thoughts from the ja606 massive?

I hope Mr Kvyat sorts out the spelling of his first name before 2014. Else the relational integrity of my driver database will suffer.

Give him a chance

Red Bull is a cut throat organisation. If they think Kvyat has a chance of beating Vettel they will let him. Red Bull don't really care about Vettel, they just want who ever can drive their car the fastest.

At the moment Vettel is quicker than Webber by enough for them to concentrate on him. If Ricciardo starts to look good we may see a change of direction from Red Bull. Basically we have to wait and see now.

I have no doubts the kid has talent but he will get the Webber treatment. Marko's still there and will make sure that continues

didnt see that one coming but yea hope the lad does well. Vergne is no bad driver so will be interesting to see how the young russian compares.
