So, What To Do tomorrow.

Well, we have a big lead already.

What now?

Bat on and on?
Bat till mid afternoon and wrap it up a.s.a.p?
Or get quick runs in the morning?

Of course India may come out and knock us over but if not then I say declare about an hour before tea.

the earliest i'd want them in is about 40 minutes before tea. enough time for about 8 hostile overs, get the bowlers freshened up and then hit them again after tea.

Declare at 665.

India scored 664 at the Oval in 2007.

This would be psychological domination.

Of course, physically the Indians are no match to KPs and Bresnans.

India's worst ever innings defeat is by an innings and 336 runs (3rd worst in the history of test matches). I'd like us to target that which is possible if manage to hit 725 and bowl them out for 160!

Would be fitting after all the WUMs on here and who I know. They just wouldn't accept my argument that England are now a very good side and were favourites to win in England. Apparently India won the world cup which means they would easily beat England in this series as they are amazing....

What's the point in declaring? Look at the weather forecast at lunch, and if it's set fair then bat on until we get bowled out.

Tell Cook he's got till lunch on day 4 to get 401 if you want

The sell-out crowd for saturday will be happy, Warcs and Sky will be happy, and India will be beaten at the Oval before they even step onto the field.

raina has been india's best spinner this series.

dravid has scored a reasonable amount of runs including two centuries. why drop him?

No but what if the weather changes?
Maybe I'm being cautious but I would declare this afternoon if possible.

I'd be pretty surprised if England declare before tea, maybe as suggested give them an hour tonight. I don't think England want to bat again on this pitch so will try to bat India right out of the game before declaring.

I think I would bat (if poss) untill an hour before close - however - if they batted till close and broke some records (cook or team etc) and declared over night I would not be concerned - I think when if the weather can change that much - what difference will 2.5 days make to 2.75 days to 2 days - if the weather holds them up - i think you just have to accept that it wasnt to be - i think 3 sessions will be enough - maybe 4 - depends on what we do with the new ball tbh
