I told 'em Oldham

After the disappointment of Tuesday a chance of redemption. The loss to Walsall wasn't a great surprise to me, they're a decent side and all runs come to an end. I think perhaps we're punching a bit above our weight and we need to get back down to earth. We're currently eighth, if we lose we could go down to eleventh, still mid table after 14 games and no disgrace given the upheaval we've had.

Rooney A will score of course, that said I'm going for the draw and hoping for a good performance.

Well, it doesn't look like we got a good performance Don. Cooper seems to think we deserved something, but that doesn't tally with neutral accounts....

It's beginning to have the feel of one of those mish-mash seasons, with no real line of form one way or the other! Still time to find that magic formula though...

I tell myself I need to remember my low expectations at the start of the season. It's all relative and the division is quite tight in my opinion. Hopefully it's a blip and we'll pick up. We're not going to storm through this division, half way is realistic I think, anything better a bonus

Totally agree - I haven't forgotten my pre-season pessimism...! In that regard, mid-table is fine by me.

But you know Don, I'm suffering from lower-league fatigue brought on by the last 15 years...perhaps I had a spoiled upbringing with us being a second flight team in the late 80s. It's far too long since we've been in the top half of the football league. As is symptomatic of the modern game, we seem to tear up the plan every season or two and start from scratch again - we never build towards anything with any determination. So I keep hoping that we'll randomly hit the jackpot! But maybe not this season. We'll see...

Good observation George. I've been a fan for 50 years and most of those have seen us in the third tier, however described. However on occasion we've been at a higher level and acquitted ourselves well whilst it's lasted. We're due a period in the top half and I think we're making progress in that direction. So, as you say, we'll see.
