Fernando Alonso, a driver I admire, is boasting that his career points total is greater than any other driver.
I therefore analysed the results of every single driver going back to 1950 and applied the current point system to their results. I also allowed for the 7 races that had half points awarded due to them not completing the full race.
Michael Schumacher = 3,891.0
Alain Prost = 2,471.5
Fernando Alonso = 2,414.0
Rubens Barrichello = 1,896.0
Kimi Räikkönen = 1,886.0
Ayrton Senna = 1,863.5
David Coulthard = 1,728.0
Nelson Piquet = 1,686.0
Jenson Button = 1,672.5
Sebastian Vettel = 1,541.0
Nigel Mansell = 1,502.0
Lewis Hamilton = 1,449.0
Gerhard Berger = 1,413.5
Mika Hakkinen = 1,383.0
Niki Lauda = 1,341.0
Felipe Massa = 1,327.0
Mark Webber = 1,308.0
Carlos Reutemann = 1,123.5
Jackie Stewart = 1,118.0
Maybe Alonso has the wrong number on his helmet.

Wow, sata management must be a hobby. I feel for Fernando, he knows he's arguably the best on the grid and is being overshadowed by Adrian Newey
