Red Sox

Wins the world Series...

There hasn't been a party like this in New England for nearly a century.

Turmoil to triumph.

David Ortiz and the Boston Red Sox, baseball's bearded wonders, capped their remarkable turnaround by beating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 in Game 6 on Wednesday night to win their third World Series championship in 10 seasons...

Spending minus $20 mil is not spending big money.

I see from you're last repsonse however, that you've got nothing to come back with so I'll leave to your delusions.

..............

My comment was that they would spend money to address their problems. They did. What part of that don't you understand?

I am not interested in what they saved. Net spend is a Liverpool fan thing.

VC, even for you this is an absurd argument

they cut spending, not invested

Kaisers,

It isn't absurd when you read what I said, word for word.

team cuts spending to 0 by releasing entire squad, then pays 10 people £0.01 a season each

Vidicschin: "but they invested because they spent money"

nice one

I said they would spend big to fix their problems.

The did. They signed 5 players on free agency (no, that doesn't mean they were free) and they paid top whack to keep Ortiz.

What they did with the rest of the team is irrelevant to my specific comment. You might not agree, mainly becuse you have to be contrary to me through the idiocy of club rivalry. But it is a fact.

Had they not made the free agency signings and kept Ortiz, it is very doubtfull they would have won the World Series, considering they were utter kak the year before.

They spent a lot of money and are fourth overall in terms of payroll, obviously behind the NYY etc.

Well, not since 2004. But let us not let facts get in the way of things.
