Does seem after hearing/reading comments in recent weeks that you are in short supply of a top class midfielder? Lets get down to it, where has the creativity come from this season overall? Do you have someone who can really create a chance in midfield?
Lets take a look at your current midfield/wide options at the moment that are in contention to start for you. Kagawa has been nothing short of poor because his confidence will be well down by this point. Fellaini seems to have flopped in a midfield with Carrick as it doesn't seem mobile enough. Cleverley never seems to get a real stint of games in the first team as he is quite inconsistent. Anderson is a bygone. Carrick is a top class passer and knows how to sit in midfield every once in a while. Valencia and Young don't get often game time and are very inconsistent themselves and Nani tries to be too much like Ronaldo when he's nowhere near that standard. Januzaj seems a good prospect for now but needs to be consistent enough now. It also seems Rooney gets to play in an AM slot which he is doing well in but really needs to be competing up top with RVP.
So judging by my personal view, it seems a DM/CM/AM is a critical area of improvement right now that Moyes really needs to focus on and soon as Carrick won't around forever for DM/CM. So here I thought might be a few ideas on players that might be worth while:
Ivan Rakitic - For me this guy is a MUST! He is a machine with his assists and goals and gets a boatload as well as being Sevilla's top performer. Price: £15-19M
Alan Dzagoev - Been consistent in Russia for CSKA for the last 2 seasons+ now and really showing he deserves a move elsewhere. Price £18-22M
Luiz Gustavo - A top performer at Bayern and was consistent however been unhappy after being dropped when he was performing well. Price: £16-18M
Oscar de Marcos - Although he hasn't started all Athletic's games he is their top scorer and is a scoring CM which I think could be really useful. Price £9-12M
Nemanja Matic - A real ball winner and works hard for his club and is looking really good in a sitting role and is very good at what he does. Price: £17-20M
Manuel Fernandes - A real standout performer for 3 years now at Beskitas and he's got 1 goal + 6 assists in 9 games for the Turkish team and looking very strong as well as 2 assists in the EL, highly recommended. Price: £12-18M
There's just some f my suggestions. Feel free to add your own.

I disagree that he was the best striker in the world but I do think had he not gotten injured United would have won another League and CL double (a treble with the League cup) that year.

the 3 strikers you mentioned Ibrahimovic was warming Barca's bench, Drogba was brilliant, but was beaten to the POTY award by rooney, and Eto'o was playing RW for Inter, the only 2 which could have had a claim were David Villa and Diego Milito

In all honesty it was a travesty that Drogba didn't win that player of the year award.
He was absolutely majestic that season. That front three of Drogba, Malouda and Anelka played some breathtaking stuff.
I remember the last day of the season thinking (hoping) Wigan could get a point and we'd win the league. Then they smashed them 8-0.

I rarely slate Moyes and maybe he wasn't to blame but this whole palaver could have been sorted had the club had the courage to sell Rooney to Chelsea and take Mata in return.
People will say 'yeah, but giving Rooney to Chelsea would have made them win the league' but in reply I say that they may well win the league while now we have kept Rooney we're struggling for the top 4.
Sometimes you need to take one step back to take two steps forward and Rooney, as well as he's played since he came back isn't ever going to dislodge RVP so the club should have been braver.
If Moyes has the opportunity to do that swap deal and didn't then that is my first big criticism of him.

Yeah, they were great that season but their most important player that year was Steven Gerrard
On another note, how badly did Malouda's level drop from that year to the next? Weird.

I can't believe he didn't sign Ozil!
Whether he sold RVP or Rooney I don't care.
I'd rather see Ozil behind Welbeck than RVP and Rooney, he's that good.
I reckon Welbeck could score 30 goals with Ozil supplying him.
Ok maybe he's not that good.

Their have been some fair statements and requests and arguments on here since the article was put up, for that, I thank you all.
I think it's clear that your going to need a good couple more midfielders for sure, 2/3 top talents would be the best personally.
