PREVIEW

Liverpool play Arsenal in what is one of the most eagerly anticipated matches of the season. With Chelsea losing to Newcastle earlier on in the day, it means that the clash at the Emirates will be billed as the clash of the high flyers with Arsenal top and Liverpool second.

Liverpool have Phillipe Coutinho back after shoulder surgery after more than six weeks out but Jose Enrique remains sidelined with a knee problem. Arsenal meanwhile have a host of injury problems with Matheiu Flamini sidelined with a groin problem and wingers Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Serge Gnabry still continuing their rehabilitation. However Mikel Arteta does return for the Gunners after a one match suspension.

Opta stats

- Arsenal have lost just one of their last 12 clashes with Liverpool, winning four and drawing seven.

- Daniel Sturridge has scored a single goal in eight of his (and Liverpool's) nine league fixtures this season, with Southampton the only team to shut him out.

- Liverpool have hit the woodwork eight times this season and have done so 60 times since August 2011, both Premier League-high figures.

Arsenal werr very physical. Wenger usually complains about it but they were aggressive. Sagna and their CBs were kicking our players but Giroud was discusting with his dives

Sterling. I thought it would be a lot closer tonight. Expected a draw but Liverpool flattered to deceive. Arsenal were quite comfortable.

Yep, Arsenal controlled the game very well. They may not have been stretched but their control was expert. They were very worthy winners.

Gunner

No disgrace to lose to Arsenal away, and a deserved win. I thought in the second half the two teams went toe to toe and that's what I love to see.

Yep agree Agger

Apart from some nervy situation we look quite comfortable.

BR made a huge mistake by playing Flanagan. We missed our full backs Enrique and Johnson. But despite all of that Arsenal are not that good. The difference was their keeper and Wenger tactics

Beaten by a better team today. Disappointed with Atkinson for the quick freekick he disallowed but we were second best through out.

Unlucky Liverpool, thought BR got your tactics wrong and made the wrong sub in the second half. You also didn't attack our fullbacks enough and in the end we were comfortable. You didn't press enough either. Couldn't have done much about Ramsey's goal but Cazorla's should have been dealt with better, as no-one tracked his run and Skrtel was statuesque when his header rebounded off the post.

All the best for the rest of the season, except for the reverse fixture.

Yeah Rodgers changing to 442 and bringing on Coutinho ended the match for us. Coutinho was poor, wasted everything. Obviously he needs to get back into the swing of things after an injury, but still.

Rodgers said Coutinho was excellent when he came on........ He is over positive at times isn't he.
