Tottenham agree Adebayor loan deal

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on loan from Manchester City.
The Togolese striker is on the hunt for a new club after being told he is not in Roberto Mancini's plans for the upcoming season.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has been on a look out for a striker to boost his firepower for their Barclays Premier League and Europa League campaigns.
And according to Sky Sports News, the North London club have agreed a deal to take the 27-year-old on loan at White Hart Lane.
Adebayor did go on loan with Spanish giants Real Madrid for the whole of last season and impressed with eight goals.
His preference was to land a permanent deal at Santiago Bernabeu but Madrid coach Jose Mourinho decided against taking the former Arsenal striker in.
Already a hate-figure amongst Arsenal fans for his provocative celebration in Manchester City's 4-2 win over the Gunners, his move to London rivals Tottenham will only do further harm to his reputation at the Emirates

This is from the Times so i'm not sure how reliable they are although i couldn't seem to find anything on Sky sports news. Although i would be happy with Adebeyor and think he would really suit us but makes you wonder if we are really are as wealthy as we think we are? All this talk of Adebeyor, Diarra etc all seem to be loans. Theres us thinking we will get the Rossi's and Llorente's of this world.....No chance!!! Anyway bit of positive for once so let's hope it's true COYS!!!

superjackwilshere........ you have a lack of understanding about football.

it is highly possible that city no longer see us as rivals to them.. as they are now going for the title... if they gave us adebayor on loan he would not be able to play against city, but would be able to play against the sides city are going for the title with, i.e. man united and chelsea, thus it would be in their interests

City are still not sure what level they are at. The season needs to start before you can judge that. City simply do not need to bother to sell him to a club that was neck and neck with them in the race for the top 4 spot. Like i said the sources for this story has come from random websites that have no track record of calling these moves.

SuperJack

I do have evidence because he appeared in an interview and admitted it himself. I will find the link as you seem to be so blinkered to the truth.

He said something, but you have zero evidence to back up your claim that City where willing to loan him to you.

Just take a second and think about what you are saying. City and Spurs at the start of this year where still going at it for a top 4 spot. You really think they would have thought about selling Ade to a close rival?

I have to admit I dont understand why City would loan us him, but it appears they would rather have him playing football than rotting in the reserves.

This is wierd. That interview was in the FA Cup final. There was not any talk of him moving to City in the winter transfer window. Also it sounds like it was his wish to join Spurs and remain in England but City waited for another club to come in and they made sure he went to another club. They can do the same thing this time. That is the thing about City, they can take their time with any moves.

Maybe SJW, but that interview did prove that it wouldnt be unlikely for Ade to sign for Spurs this transfer window.

Could be. If this deal will happen then its last days/hours job in the window. City will no doubt looking for any team to take him that is not as close as Spurs are to them in terms of the table and quality. My money is still on them to sell him to some club in Europe.
