Final Farewell Sachin Series

In his record 200th test the little master bows out at his home city.

It seems no one cares about the test/result. It's all about the perfect send off but how will it end?

What's your predictions? The rumour is that a flat track is being prepared to ensure Sachin has the best chance possible to add to his record tally.

At work we have a Indian programmer shortage for the next few days as they all have taken the days off for this test. They were granted special leave for this event. Has Neon done the same?

No im going to do a more fairer stats comparison. I will look at all these players and see how they performed away from home.
And actually Tendulkars average at home is less than his average away from home. Tendulkars best country was australia. He averaged like 53 despite that poor series in 2011. Think about that. The likes of Kallis, Lara and dravid dont come close to his record in Australia. And then in England, I think Lara's and Tendulkars record are pretty much the same. Kallis has a very poor record there and same as ponting.

I have done another analysis, where I have considered all players averages in Places like SA, Aus, Eng and India. We all agree that these places are the most difficult places to bat on. right?

What does the stats say then? I will consider their averages not including their home venue because most people say that Tendulkar would have an advantage of playing in the so called 'flat tracks'.

He actually tops the list from these generation of batsmen.
Tendulkar - 51.64
Lara - 44.42
Kallis - 47.93
Ponting - 38.96
Sangakkara - 38.

Now I will look at their records including their home venues. Tendulkar's average drops because his home record is not that good. Well he averages 50 at home. The rest's averages goes up because they perform better at home compared to away from home.

Tendulkar - 50.64
Ponting - 48.39
Kallis - 47.93

Why not look at averages best on best bowling attacks?

Saffers - sachins 24 yrs - they've always had a good bowling line up
Pakistan- same as above
Aussies - same, gota respect his average vs Aussies
England - quality bowling attack 10/24 sachin years

His average needs to be compared with other players averages against Saffers, Paks and Aussies?? Would be an interesting read.

I'm with Viru TBH. Compared to those fine modern day players I think Sachin is ahead. Lara would always be my all time favourite batsman to watch but statistically Sachin was better.

I cant understand why Indian fans go on defensive , start doing extensive research and stats analysis whenever any one says that Tendulkar may not be the greatest of the greatest of the greatest.

If someone here says that Imran was not the best allrounder at his time, I would not do extensive research and perhaps twist stats to support my opinion.I would just say that they are entitled to their opinion and so am I..

Yes afridi I will have a look at that. Statsguru is quite hard to use. lool.

Pakistan I think yes its true that most indians do get defensive. Perhaps they have unsecure feelings. But anyway I just did this because no one one has ever actually bothered looking at the depth of these stats. Most of the times people here just present an overall stats that doesnt tell anything.

I do agree that stats cannot be a solo reason to judge which player someone likes or not. The situations that each player has played and scored runs is different. So in that sense it would be unfair to compare say a 100 of player A and a hundred of player B.

Not india fan but i can understand why they like to go on defensive. I think its because for them , they pride on having someone who is worlds best ever, naturally whenever that belief is challenged, they would like to counter-challenge.
India after all, just like pakistan is a 3rd world country, which is still trying to announce itself, and sachin is one of those few.
Australia ,for instance gone past that stage, that idolising a person to satisfy nationalism.
How mad, i wonder, an indian would be, for that instance, any 3rd nation, if someone like Federer, who have much more global following than only-british colony sport's stars, came from their own country!

Really happy that he won his final match in front of his home crowd and ended with an average well above 50 which he truly deserved. Definitely one of the great batsman of this era.

But also, am glad it's finally over, every 6 months, we go through this.
