Cannot fault the effort, especially second half, and but for the goalie would have been an absolutely landslide. Nevertheless another 3 points gone begging, and with City and United coming up next two games, looking a bit bleak in the league just now. He ho though it is onwards and upwards as they say.
I thought the Spurs set-pieces were pretty dreadful today, especially the corners, and both Eriksen and Townsend had poor games, the problem with Towsend is he does not know when to pass to a team-mate, and Eriksen I thought gave away the ball far too much.
I have to say Lamela should have been one of first names on the team-sheet today, Siggy offered very little, and the first half the build up was far too slow. And why were Kaboul and Sandro both not starting?
Mugged again at WHL

Where was the effort in the first half?
AVB to cautious, Sandro should always start in front of Paulinho, he's been shocking for a while now, still don't rate him for what we need in the middle.
Shocking tactics once again, didn't get away with it today.

You can't just blame it on the goalkeeper having a good day. Aside from the double save from Sigurdsson's deflected free-kick and the follow up, Krul made no outstanding saves. Most of your shots were straight at Krul from point-blanc range and some of them were saves he was expected to make, as he is a Premier League goalkeeper. Sigurdsson offered no threat on the flanks, Townsend was well-marshalled because everyone knew he was going to cut in and shoot meanwhile Eriksen created next to nothing for most of the game. Most of your chances were from long range or from set-pieces. I thought you were unlucky to lose, but you didn't deserve to win. Not because Newcastle played well, because they didn't, but because your performance collectively wasn't good enough.

Paulinho needs benching as much as anyone, gave the ball away for the goal, continually wanting several touches in and around the area and then giving it away in dangerous positions, the only decent thing he did was win a free kick at the edge of the box.
When Eriksen gives the ball away he's usually trying to play a clever ball or difficult pass, Paulinho dithers too much when a basic touch and pass is on.
Towsend now needs benched and Walker's delivery was as awful as ever today.
I'd actually play Capoue and Sandro against City, at least they won't give the ball away.

I remember the man utd 1-1 draw against newcastle that was being mugged proper. Phantom penalty goal to. That game was also a reason we lost the title.

Completely agree with this Eddievh I'd play Dembele behind Soldado and Lennon left, Lamela right. Siggy, Paulinho and Townsend all need to be benched. Sandro should always start!
I think we'll get battered at City, but get ironically get something at home to united.
