Just a thread to dicuss the series starting in just over a week now..
The Aussies have named their 12..
Australia squad: Michael Clarke (captain), Brad Haddin (vice-captain, wk), George Bailey, James Faulkner, Ryan Harris, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Lyon, Chris Rogers, Peter Siddle, Steven Smith, David Warner, Shane Watson.
England will go for either Finn or Tremlett for the 3rd seamers role.
I think they will go for Finn. Prior should hopefully be fit..
Up coming ashes series..

whats wrong if cook goes after record? Should and is records not one of motivation for players? As long as cook is able to retain the place, why shouldnt he continue playing?is it not a matter of pride for his countrymen and his fans if indeed he breaks the record? Think of how many kids pick up bat after getting motivated from that story!

if anyone can break tendulkars run record in test matches, it has to be Cook. If cook cant do it, then none else can, tendulkars record is safe forever.
Because however good a player is, he doesnt have enough test to go near sachins record if he is from any country beside england., also the way other nation are playing so less of a test match. Unless a bradman like player emerges ie.
But even a bradman like player requires to play about 120 test matches to play to reach 16000 runs and if that player happens to come from NZ, Bang, Zim, then they fall short of 120 test match in a say, 15 year career.
A tendulkar like player need to play 200 test to break sachins record and its impossible to see any player other than from england playing that sort of number in a 16 year career.
Come on cookie, my blessing for you!

I see Clarke as been spouting his gob off again and mentioning the England 11 for brisbaine.. The Australians get on my nerves the way they act.. to try and intimidate.. If they lose this ashes. that will be 5 out 6 ashes series.. and they have zero chance of beating England in England next time around.
Just shut up and compete on the field.

England,
Think Clarke tried being funny, but ended up looking a complete t34t...

what a batting practice cook especially is getting!
Australia missed a plot by providing batting beauty in the hope of churning out a completely different pitch later on.
But i feel, batting is more about feel and getting back to the groove and form. And back in the form is cook n co getting.
Might be a sign of mountain australia find themselves confronting against.

Clarkes press conference was cringeworthy. He's trying to be something he isn't.

Clarke will be quietly crapping himself, he knows he is the only Aussie that would get into the England team.
England should canter to 4 or 5 nil.
