ON THIS DAY: 1987. A fresh-faced Leeds-born teenager made his debut for the club in a 4-2 win against Swindon Town at Elland Road...He immediately became a first team regular and a fans favourite...
I was there and it does seem like yesterday. Great times from that point to gaining promotion again and my favourite time as a Leeds fan even surpassing the 70s for me for excitement.

Yup was there too, always looked very comfortable on the ball and held the team together. Greatly under-rated by fans of clubs for whom he didn't play for but not by those he did play for!

I was there too - Lowfields Rd ..... 3 quid to get in after grabbing a bus from City Sq.....ah those were the days of being a skint student up at Teesside Poly and travelling down to Leeds for home games.....distinctly remember Batty coming on as he was the same age.....great things were to follow!

couple years later Arsenal snaffled up 20 yr old Viera for 3.5 mil
