I cannot believe united are being made to pay £200,000 compensation for him velez sarsfield released the player he then signed for another Argentinian club then he signed for united after being released by this other club so surely this other club should have paid this compensation and not united. Have FIFA now opened a can of worms with this decision as now united or any other club who have brought youngsters through their clubs but released them can now claim compensation against any club that signed them looks a good way for clubs to get money for players they raised but no longer wanted

Crazy situation. He only played 2 games for them before being released to another Argentine club.
Argentinian football is a basket case though, wouldn't be surprised if there's a mafia drug lord dictating blackmailing somebody at FIFA.

Ignore the word dictating in that sentence. Drug lords are editing my post it seems.
Didn't Hitler flee to Argentina too? That probably explains it. They were all feckin' Dees!

Hobo, the biggest speaking German community outside of Germany is in Argentina. A lot of the SS soldiers fled to there after the end of the second world war. Think Hitler was killed in a bunker (not sure)
As far as I know United were expecting to pay a lot more, closer to £400k I think so at least its not as much. Still not great right enough, hope this doesn't put us under any pressure to sell someone in January.......

How do they calculate the compensation, simply because I have seen clubs like Aberdeen have young players go to England for free with the Dons due compensation. But I must say that in most cases the compensation seemed very low.
