Everton and Liverpool played out an amazing 221st Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park on Saturday that ended as a draw.

Liverpool took the lead in the fifth minute when Luis Suarez flicked Steven Gerrard's corner kick onto Philippe Coutinho, and he lashed it in. But just three minutes later, Everton were level as Leighton Baines's free kick was not dealt with by the Liverpool defence, and Kevin Mirallas lashed it into the roof of the net.

But Liverpool had the lead again in the 19th minute as Suarez curled a wonderful free kick into the bottom right corner from 25 yards.

In the second half, Liverpool had a big chance to kill the game off as Joe Allen found himself through on goal, but he amazingly rolled it wide when he also had Suarez to his left waiting for the ball.

Mirallas was lucky to be on the pitch after a horrible challenge on Suarez earlier in the game, but he provided Romelu Lukaku with a pass to slot in the equaliser. Lukaku had previously been denied numerous times by Simon Mignolet who made a succession of brilliant saves.

But Lukaku wasn't finished as he powered a header into the net from a corner kick to give Everton the lead with eight minutes to go. But there was still more to come as substitute Daniel Sturridge headed Liverpool's equaliser following a free kick from Gerrard.
