Ferrari get a special payment of 17.5 million dollars just for agreeing to race. They are the only team that can veto any rule change.
They have a long history of holding the sport to ransom until they get their own way.

Quite true, yet why, nobody can say.
When "A1GP" became "Formula Ferrari" nobody turned up to watch and the whole thing died an embarrassing death.
It really is time that the other teams all got together and demanded that this perpetual charade of Ferrari favouritism is ended.
They use the sport to promote their product, if anything, they should get less.
