Match thread + The Griffiths Debate (cont.)

There seems to be quite a few posters on 'ere who feel that Griffiths can escape criticism and that he's held as some kind of hero because he puts the ball in the ol’ onion bag.

Let's just ask ourselves why he's in the side…… he is in the side as a STRIKER playing the preferred 4-4-2 system of play, and strikers are also supposed to hold up play, form a link with the midfield, run off the ball taking opponents away thus creating space for others, and most importantly create goal scoring opportunities for their strike partner.

When you look at the statistics, it’s clear that Griffiths is not creating enough space or scoring opportunities for Doyle, and this is reason Doyle’s goals to minutes ratio is worse than Siggy’s. I dread to think what might happen if Doyler were to get injured, because it's clear from Griffiths goals that only Doyle is doing his job properly.


This is my personal view and opinion on Griffiths. I hope this creates a personal attack and doesn't turn into a healthy debate.

For those who defend Griffith’s inclusion, please explain why he can't make more space and scoring opportunities for Doyle?
