The way these two compliment each other is unreal. They both enhance the others ability.
Koscielny is the more obvious in your face talent, but I don't think there's a centre back like Mertesacker out there.
The guy is pure intelligence and anticipation. Criminally, criminally underrated too.
Amusingly though, opposition fans still think their headless chickens, y'know their Lennons, Townsends and other such tosh, can just speed past him like they were doing when the German was getting used to the Prem. Not anymore amigo.
He is the main reason our defence has been solid. His experience and calming influence is invaluable. One of the best signings Wenger has made in years.

I actually think the reason for our strong start this season is mainly because of the form of both center backs and full backs. Flamini helps as he and Per seem to identify danger faster than most but the defence as a whole are the reson why we are top.
We have barely been that good up top, not creating as many chances as teams of the past but I think that will change with Theo,Podolski and the Ox contributing in the 2nd half of the season.

Speaking of up Top though, Giroud definitely contributes that way. We don't have many 6 footes in the team, so it's good to have him back helig out on corners and free kicks.

I have not read any post from any City fan saying we will hammer you guys. We never even thought we could hammer Spurs with 6. Those goals came about due to their defensive gung ho attitudes.
My advice to the gooners is that they avoid trying to stuff us at home. No amount of positional masterclass can stop the beast.
But I do rate your defence highly though.
