Ok,
Sick to death of the same argument over and over. Those who bash Bates and Grayson and those who don't arguing back and forth - pointless!!!!
So lets try something new, an actual debate/discussion.
Having seen a few games this season on TV or in person I would like people's views on Clayton and how he has matured and his game has come along.
I mentioned on Jonty's "30 things" thread I think a little plaudits needs to be given to SG for seeing the talent, giving him a season to mature on loan and then bringing him in. I am not making him our midfield saviour, it takes more than a single season, never mind just a few games, to see the true consistent quality but I like the chance it could happen.
So, over to you, debate Clayton, compare if you like (i.e. Clayton to Vinnie Jones ect) but idiotic off topic posts will be deleted unless they are genuinly funny!
Discuss if you can!
A real debate?

Good article. I think we have to be careful after onky two fames. I personally don't see Batty in him I see him more as man who plays from deep who is creative, picking the basic and excellent pass. Similar role to players like Modric, Scholes, Alonso.
A definate plus for Grayson. Great management.

Early days for him, but for me he is an improvement on Kilkenny in that midfield and looks really hungry for it and as if he wants to improve his game.
He shows that you can be a robust, effective combative player without being that big in stature.

One ray of sunshine in the gloom engulfing er at the moment but let's give the lad a chance and see how he progresses he's a long way to go before he's anywhere near some of the names mentioned above

2020 - try reading, none topic or just stupid gets deleted.
Nice to see that we have only had one idiot.
This seems like people are being very reasonable and seeing him as a hard worker who has taken a year on loan and matured significantly.
I am wondering if him and Lees are a reason we haven't been as active in the transfer market? But who knows.
All I know is that Nunez, Clayton and Lees from the cup game give me more hope than I have had all summer and I have always been one of the positive ones so it must be good

Yes, was right thing to do to loan him out and then give him his chance which he's taken with both hands now.
Why hasn't White been given the same chance?

Clayton a definate improvement on Kilkenny
Brown a definate weakening of the team compared to johnson

Agree that letting kilkenny move on isn't bad as Clayton is can pass as good, tackle better and gets around more. We definately still need a replacement for Johnson.
Would be good to see Gradel down one wing and White down the other. Although love Snodgrass he has got the same speed as the two named and been off his game at end of last and beginning of this season.
