Is AVB in the right or the wrong?

Dunno if you've seen this over the past couple of days but AVB has been taking a lot of flak over two reporters from the Daily Mail and has gotten quite defensive about it and seems to think he is being wrongly treated.

My own viewpoint is that when you get a fan removed (as happened in the Tromso game) for shouting 'you're getting sacked in the morning' in the same week you just lost 6-0 to a title rival after spending £100 million in the summer you should expect a roasting from the press.

Where do you guys stand in this? Should AVB have just said nothing and (eventually) let the results do the talking or is AVB being a bit naive and 'immature' as Allardyce has said?

I included Spurs fans on this article as I wanted to hear their views on it. Do you guys think this is a pro-Harry Redknapp press reaction or has AVB brought this on himself?

This isn't just about AVB but also the way the press treats any football manager in the same position.

Agree MUDD.
It's a Xenophobic, right wing dangerous newspaper !
Anyhow regarding AVB, he is shifty, no personality, arrogant and don't think he can cut it at the highest level. Time will tell. He is also obsessed with playing this high defensive line and offside trap that can easily get spring by good sides.

You cannot know that my good fellow. I for one would never work for a paper like the daily mail. I would never knowingly work for an organisation that I had ethical issues with, so will not be surprised if he has a similar ideology.

I have a friend who works for them (very high up) and he is as centre-left as you can get. I do realise it has some pretty nasty people working there and as an immigrant I probably share a lot of the same ideals that you do but every newspaper, no matter which ideal their editor follows has plenty of people working for them who don't quite tow the party line.

"Hmm, it's interesting you say that. Perhaps the pieces you read were indicative of what you're saying but the pieces I read were critical of Hart and backed Pellegrini's move."

I've read both sides of the opinion, I just think people sometimes see or read what they want to to reinforce an opinion they already have about the papers.

Robb, my political views vary depending on the situation.

In terms of business etc, my views are mostly Centre right but I believe in looking after those who are vulnerable or do not have the same opportunities as I have had in life.

Socially, my views are more centre left, maybe that's because I'm part foreign and I understand what foreigners go through better than most.

Like I said, I personally would not work for a company that I had ethical issues with. That's why I turned down a couple of jobs to work for the people I do now.

I am centre left too so we agree on something!

I don't think there's a huge anti-foreigner thing though.
==============

I can only assume you do not live in Britain or live in a place with no access to the press.

Foreigners are despised by the media in this country, most of it perpetrated by the right wing monster that is Rupert Murdoch.

Look at the hysteria being whipped up about Bulgaria and Romania. Look at the complaints about the number of English players in the prem, foreign owners, managers etc.

You must be incredibly naive to not see how xenophobic the press in this country is

-------------------
I disagree

Coming across as xenophobic is purely incidental. They print whatever gives them pounds shillings and pence

Look at the way Rooney was on the front and back pages for months after the World Cup?

What about the ridicule suffered by a succession of England managers. Did Sven or Capello get it any worse than Graham Taylor or Steve McClaren?

What about Becks after his sending ogg against the Argies?

The press's only criteria is the more famour the person they cab crucify, the more dollar bills will come rolling in

Sorry about the typos in that but it's still understandable
