That thought Defoe played well last night?
If Lamela and Paulinho had of scored the chances he layed on for them everyone would be singing his praises today. I thought he looked much more lively up front than Soldado. I cant be on my own thinking this surely?
Am I really the only one?

Yeah he did fluff his chance BUT most strikers take regular games to get to their best. Its not a bit easy playing a bit part and then being fully confident when called upon. Thats why the likes of Solksjaer was world famous for doing it.
Its a tough one, on the one hand I'm thinking got to be patient with Soldado on the other I'm thinking in the short term Defoe would prob offer more if he was played all through December than Soldado would if he was picked.

I only saw the MOTD highlights of the game last night but they did show the Defoe I like, which is the striker with good ball control and movement with the ball. And he did lay on those assists.
But he does miss too often good chances which has been his problem for a couple of years now. But I would rather have him for his contribution other than scoring if we cannot rely on Soldado to score. Soldado does not seem to offer much else even if I do think that his style of play is dictated by service.

Messiah
Bottom line is Defoe has only scored ONE prem goal this calendar year. Yes, I know he has not always featured, but he has had plenty of games, and one goal is piiiiissss poor over a 12 month period.

Anyone else want to see Defoe and Soldado start against Sunderland?
4-4-2 - what's the worst that can happen?!

Sunderland will be a tough game, they looked good in phases vs Chelsea

Maybe NotSo. I think we could afford to do that against Sunderland, though I'm not sure how much that partnership would work. Someone like Siggy partnering one of them might be better.
What I don't want to see is fackin inverted wingers again!

Spurtle - agree completely. Why is that everyone in the entire world realises that inverted wingers are a bad idea, except the one man that makes the decision!!
Not AVB bashing... but just wish he would adapt a bit more sometimes!

I think you've answered your own question NotSo. It's like AVB wants to be different to everyone else, so if he ever did get it to work he can say "I told you so".
