Midfield

I think that for today's game, Joe may be too physically lightweight. The trouble is, with Lucas back in, expect loads of fouls near or in our own penalty box. I really hope that Sahko makes the cut today, I'd put him in front of Agger or Flano.

I know it's been said before, but until we have a new DM could be worth a look at having Agger or even possibly Toure playing the holding role.

Diame is mediocre.

He one good game every 3 months against the good teams and everyone wets their pants.

On a consistent basis he is a bottom half of the table player. That's why he has played for Wigan and West Ham and no better.

Agger would be my choice on that point Coutinho. As a last-ditch defender he gives me palpitations at times, looking as if he is overwhelmed. We've shipped in 17 goals so far this season. Agger sitting in front of aback four of Glen, Martin Sahko and Flana might be the answer.

Can I just say I'm not saying Diame is anything special, but like you say he performs against the big teams. Hence why I think we'll struggle today.

Jimmy - Yeah, I'd like to see it given a go but won't happen. Looks like Agger will be off anyway..whether that be January or next summer.

lets be honest, the elephant in the room here is when gerrard is one of the guys in a 2 man midfield, he doesnt have the energy levels anymore to do a defensive role, which means lucas is doing the defensive work of 2 men for 90 minutes every game, and i dont think theres a midfielder in the game that could do that

Luckily we have Coutinho back to his best. If he plays in the middle with Gerrard Lucas and Allen for Henderson then we can control the game from the midfield

Mulumbu is the man for me. Much better than Diame. Has more to his game than Diame, is a good passer, quick, great engine and can tackle. He can dominate a midfield.

Sad but true, our midfield has to carry Gerrard, especially with 433...

Gerrard has carried the team so long I think it has now taken its toll on him

he certainly should not play in a central 2 because he simply doesn't have the legs for it, if anything he needs to play in front of the central 2
