First off, I'm not going to type a HUGE block of text as I normally do. This one will be significantly shorter, I hope to your liking.
But anyway, match fixing. This is becoming a little bit sceptic now. Just another probing idea that has raised a lot of attention in football now. What's going to stop it? Obviously, betting is never going to stop, but, you can bet for all kinds of things now which is a problem as it is easy to talk to a pro footballer you know, put a £1000 bet on that player to get a red card that could be odds of 30/1 and then they say, you can have £5000 of the money, which for someone like a League Two player, would be an excellent turn out.
I'ts going to be difficult to find the people behind it. But they have done already, so surely, they can find more. But all it takes is for someone to speak out if they don't get it there own way in a deal. It could also be done by an undercover news reporter like it was with Sam Sodje.
But anyway, enough from me. What are your thoughts?
Match Fixing

I think banning bookies from taking bets on individual players getting red/yellow cards would do it. Anything other than that and it's going to be tricky for one player to make the difference on their own, or will be really obvious if they do (e.g. scoring an own goal).

Finally, some on topic debate, for a change.
Own goals I don't think will be so obvious. It could be easy for a striker to say he was coming back to defend and a simple "miss kick" would do the trick really, money earned. No one knows.
But you do have a good point. Red/yellow card betting should be taken out, especially when you can do it at any point as well at like William Hill or BetFred etc.

Timing of throw ins etc is also easy to fix.

You could ban it over here but it's all the far eastern countries that go mad for betting.

Agreed OF.
KATD, But it has happened in British football. That's the problem. It is on it's way to the best division in the world.

Can't seeing it happening in prem LRF. Players get so much money as it is. Why risk losing all that for another coue of grand

Just ban betting on these ridiculous things. Why they allow betting on stuff like Cards and Corners, it's just asking for trouble.

Yeh I know it's happened in British football but theres nothing to stop a far eastern syndicate bunging an English player a few quid.

SOG, It might be a little over the top, but it will still be going on in English/Scottish football now, I'd guarantee that. That was an example of League two.
Anyone ex footballer could put £20,000 on something that is 30/1 like a throw in on the exact second for that player. That's £600,000 in the back of someone's pocket and about £50,000 to the player which will be double/triple some PL wages and then that's a lovely deal, thank you. Not caught. Simple as that.
