Brewers 1 Minstermen 1

I am not sure if my opinion is shared but I found that fairly painful to watch again. I think that we need an early goal to settle us down and to give us some heart. We need to take our clear cut chances - like the ones Robbie Weir and Rene Howe had in the first half. I would have buried both of those and I am free to play in future games.

I felt sorry for Rene Howe as that miss will probably be all that is remembered by most. For me he had a very good game apart from that.

What was bizarre was seeing an 18 year old lad (Matty Palmer) come on and play some good passing football when many of the senior pros with experience around him seemed more keen to lump the ball around in gale force winds aimlessly all afternoon.

What on earth has happened to Chris Hussey? He was brilliant for the first 10 games and now he is looking atrocious.

I thought York were pretty good and were just a lacking a bit upfront (though that Fletcher bloke looked pretty useful on the ball).

Special mention to MacDonald who isn't any good at diving either. I was quite glad to see him substituted for that disgraceful cheating. I didn't like watching that.

Good quote from Nigel Worthington. 'There's not many teams who come to Burton and go away with something'. Errr.....that was last season.

In the predictor league, with many going for a home win, it was a good day for Earwig who picked up 5 points with a 1-1 prediction. His second of the season and 2nd in 4 games. It was also worth a jump of 7 places in the table.

Spare a thought for Don. 5 consecutive 1-1 league predictions without any joy and for the game today he changed his formula and went for a home win.

Here's the table;

1) Marco - 46
2) BAFC 123 - 44
3) BA442 - 43
4) Earwig - 41
5) Emnez - 40
6) Brewers County - 40
7) JFWqwerty6 - 40
8) Tommatt - 39
9) Captain Utd - 39
10) Old Brookender - 39
11) Robbo62 - 38
12) Steve1210 - 37
13) Foxy Freddy - 36
14) Otep - 34
15) Stuart44 - 33
16) Frank Ashton - 32
17) Boston Brewer - 30
18) Don Touched My Boots - 17

No grumbles from me gentlemen the conditions were terrible to play good football York coped better than us and deserved a point out the game.On the up side it highlighted what a good player we have in Matty Palmer he showed the senior players how to play the conditions, what a talented young player he is and we will be lucky to hang on to him.

Ok we all wanted more, but a point keeps us in the frame. High balls and wind , not great to watch. Billy's goal was something special in a dull affair.

Back home again Tuesday night for FA cup replay.
Come on Brewers let's see you go for it and give the home fans something to cheer about.

Yes, another poor afternoon's entertainment. Sure, the wind was a factor, but would have been less so if the ball wasn't hoofed up in the air so much.

Bright spots?

Thought Macdonald had a very good first half, but agree about the dive. Pointless and more than a little embarrassing.

Rene Howe did OK for me. Probably in that 'needs a goal' zone to kick on.

Best game from Lee Bell for a while. Deserved MOTM in my eyes.

Agree that Matty Palmer was class, one cross swung in from the right was a nightmare to defend and deserved a better finish.

And did I not say more pitch time for Billy yesterday morning? I make that 7 now at a rate of 1 every 125 minutes. Keep 'em coming.

Spot on Otep , glad you watched the same game as me . We had the chances to win this comfortably ,but to be fair to York they looked lively and bright and maybe deserved something . Tuesday will be tough ,make no mistake unless we are on our game we will get turned over by Fleetwood . Howe is a clever player holds the ball up well ,lays it off to good effect i would stick with him now , and perm one from three as a partner . Hussey was awful and i hope doesnt figure for a while , Macdonald looked busy without exciting me and was rightfully subbed off after his dive . The middle two played ok but Weir was wasteful with at least three chances he should have buried .I would bring Zander back in tuesday ,and play Palmer from the start . All is not lost but that was disapointing .

Incidentally, did anyone notice the build up to the York goal? The guy stood there with the ball at his feet, had a cup of tea, read the paper and took a good long look at the box. I think 3 of our players stood back and watched on.

There was enough time for me to shout 'Yes, let him have a free cross lads'. A couple of seconds later the ball was in the net.

Did anyone else see that tug on Robbie Weir's shirt as he went to head that ball home from a set piece. Blatant. I saw it from half a pitch away but the referee didn't from 10 yards away.
