Goalscorers

Remarkably for a team that's scored nearly 50 goals (I know ) this early in the season Ciftci is still the top scorer with 7. Which does seem very low but I think the fact that they are well spread out over the team is a plus, not like MacKay at ICT for example.

We have 6 players with over 5 goals.

Ciftci ~7
Armstrong ~ 7
GMS ~6
Gauld ~ 6
Goodwillie ~5
Roobertson ~5

Interestingly top scorers from all areas of the pitch as well. We also have another 6 scorers with less than 5 goals each

You could also argue that over actual game time payed Goodie is still the most prolific scorer we've got, maybe deserves a bit of more game time before we decide if he goes in January or not.

I'm not at all criticising anything that's happening on the park (who would) I'd just love Goodie to get back to full form, maybe stay till end of the season and go back down south with his head held high.

More for himself than anything else

It's good our goals have been spread throughout the team rather than being dependant on a single goalscorer like Inverness , st Johnstone , Aberdeen etc if their only goalscorer gets a serious injury they will struggle

I think like every United supporter, I'm willing Goodwillie to be a success, but it's been 4 months and he's shown next to nothing. His composure & finishing were excellent in the Partick cup game, but in the 3 subsequent games he started, didn't score and the whole team only got one goal.

Since he's been dropped, we've scored 21 goals in 5 games. This isn't a coincidence, he just seems to drag the whole team down with him. Some people say he doesn't fit into the formation, but I think a 2010 Goodwillie would be absolutely perfect in this team. Skillful, strong, a ruthless finisher but also a great provider. So far off the pace at the moment, needs to get into a team that will give him more time on the pitch to regain fitness/sharpness. Partick would probably be a good option, play decent football but badly lack a decent striker.

Yeah Graham maybe suits the shape of the team more than Goodie, I suppose it is hard to justify his wages when he spends so much time on the bench.

Hopefully he'll get another couple from the bench and we'll see what happens.........

I think Goodie is just a bit too greedy for the way we play. We need our front man to link the play and bring others into the game and Goodie just hasn't been doing that since he's came back up the road - he's been getting the ball, holding onto it and trying to shoot.

As for the OP though, I think it shows just what a nightmare we must be to play against. All the focus recently has been on Gauld and you can see teams are now playing to negate him. But in doing that they're leaving space for others and you're now seeing that extra space being exploited by the likes of Armstrong who is now being our main threat. Once they start closing down Armstrong you can easily see Ciftci or GMS being the main man again.

Just watched the highlights there and it's incredible how many players we throw forward. At Armstrong's goal there were 4 other players along the 6 yard line ready to knock it in if he squared it. At Goodie's goal it was Andy Robertson challening (and probably fouling if I'm honest) the Killie keeper. Great stuff.

Ivan, it must be a nightmare for other teams We are lethal going forward, I think its been great for GMS and Armstrong to be taken out the limelight with Gauld being the talked about one. The both of them are probably having their best season so far, that probably applies to a few others too, like Rankin & Rado.
