Very Very Poor

I don't care it was only the 3rd game of the season that was a shocking performance Mills was awful his performance can't not be repeated again this season if he wants to be captin he should stand up and lead he did neither. Anyone at the game saw Kasper Schmeichel stand up and lead and shout at players not pulling there weight he became a fans favorite in one game because of his passion. The Midfield was sloppy from the first minute poor passing and it seemed like all we had to do was turn up to win. The passing was poor to Nugent who worked his socks off to make best poor long balls.

The Subs made no impact at all which is shocking they should fighting to get a place in the team.

The whole squad need to book there ideas up. The bristol game is now a must win. We need to learn and quick that every other team in this league want to beat us that little bit more now.

Montreal. Warned you this morning this was going to be a tough match.

If anyone is to blame for this performance it is Sven. He persisted (from the word go) with a 4-3-3 set up with Abe dropping deep as the holding midfielder. The only way this was going to work was if the full backs got forward - one looked tired and the other insisted on crossing from just inside the oppositions half.

Wellens and Fernandes spent most of the first half up against a bank of four so out-numbered, we resorted to long-balls, of which Mills is no master.

Eventually Sven twigged and went 4-4-2 and for a while we were OK. Danns got forward well and Nugent (looking far more comfortable in a more central role) was unlucky when his shot came back off the post - again!

Reading's first goal was down to bad marking from the corner. Haven't seen the telly replay yet but we will need to improve on this to stand any chance of challenging. The second was when we were throwing everything forward - it happens.

Learning points Sven.

A number of teams are going to come to the KP, play two banks of four and try to catch us on the break (This was Reading's approach all season and you didn't expect it!). You will not break them down with 3 in midfield.

I am convinced Schlupp will be a player but he is not ready to be one of a front two yet. However, I am equally convinced that Waggy needs to go out on loan to play some matches for a team that doesn't have Leicester's expectations.

And we need a second striker. This would not have made a jot of difference in the first half but once we started to play the right formation, there were chances.

Must do better - especially in the tactics Sven!

typical article when we lose.... no offense but reading are a very good team, as are we, i still think we will go on and do really well this season, i dont expect we will at all win every game and to lose to reading isnt so bad as it will show the lads we need to grind out the results even if we are on the front foot! up the foxes regardless of one result...still 44 more to go

"Very Very Poor"

The word I'd use would be atrocious. It just didn't happen for us today, although it would help if Sven stopped putting round pegs in square holes: Danns is not a wide-man and Nugent isn't a lone striker. There are too many players in too small a space trying to do the same job in midfield and all they achieve is getting in each other's way and leaving poor old Nugent hopelessly isolated. Either the players just need to learn the system, or the system itself is a dud; either way what is clear is that currently we carry virtually no goal threat which isn't good enough for a team aiming for promotion. These things were evident against Cov, we just got away with it because they're a poor side.

We have more than enough quality (though another striker is desperately needed) but at the moment the team blend and tactics need some tweaking. I'm confident Sven will get it right and there were always going to be days like this, particularly early on in the season. What's most important is that the team remember it's just one game, learn their lessons and then get over this performance quickly. We've got Bristol next who, frankly, are a pretty poor side - that gives us a great opportunity to start putting things right.

Last season's three top scorers were King, Gallagher and Yakubu. Two of these were on the bench, and the Yak hasn't been replaced. Come on Sven, don't you think this is significant?

Sven got it completely wrong today with his tactics, and his choice of players.
3 Defensively minded players in midfield against a team who intended to sit tight and hit us on the break!
Reading are a very good side, with some quality players, but they won't be the only team that comes here and uses those tactics against us this year and we seemed to have no answer to this. Zero creativity in midfield, and an isolated striker.
Hoping today was a one off, surely the passing can't be so poor on wednesday?
Only Kasper, Nugent and Bamber can take any real credit from today.
King has to start next game, and surely Lloyd Dyer needs to be an option from the bench?

I think we need to calm down. Yes it was a bad performance but this could be a wake-up call for us. Maybe the players started to believe all the hype that they would walk the league? It was very strange. The passing wasn't crisp or fluid and there was no movement off the ball creating space and angles to move the opposition out of position to create the chances. That's basic footballing practice and we weren't doing it.

Mills' looked nervous especially (possibly due to the fact he was facing his former team). When he was defending he stood of too deep and allowed the strikers too much time to turn. On the ball his distribution was poor and it's something I noticed during the Madrid game as well. I think he should be the no-nonsense centre-back who tackles, clears if he is under pressure and if we're looking to build from the back, he should just play it simple to Bamba and let him play into midfield and start the attacks because Mills is too sloppy in possession.

Also Danns didn't really know where he was supposed to be playing. He was either too wide or was playing to deep and central which crowded the midfield. We wanted him playing inside the full-back and trying to support Nugent and he didn't do that. Schlupp was the same. We did looked better in the 2nd half and I thought their goal came against the run of play.

One thing's for sure, is that if there's any spirit or fight in this team, they'll come out with a point to prove on Wednesday. I'm not worried or concerned yet, but I hope this acts as a wake-up call to everyone. The players, the manager, the fans. Everyone. This shows us The Championship; no matter how good a team looks on paper, if they're not 100%, they'll lose. All teams loose matches, but the good teams respond and the bad teams slump.

Good piece, greatness. I see that Bristol City shipped another three goals this afternoon (and that Maynard got one). If our new team mean to be real contenders, they must now show it.
