In his defence I will say that he was on the receiving end of a cowardly stamp by Song and Gervinho had been diving all game. Barton was not the only Newcastle player to have a go at Gervinho, at least four players reacted to his constant diving. The penalty "dive " seemed to be the last straw and Barton was the closest player to him.

One thing Barton has done is mark Gervinho out as being a diving cheat, maybe he will not dive as much after this.
Lets hope someone grabs the diving buck toothed cheat from across the park by the neck and brings his shamefull cheating into the public eye.
