After some concerning posts this weekend, it became clear to me that some members on here might not know how to score a professional boxing fight.
So I have decided to give some advice and pointers so you can score fights more effectively in the future.
There are four main criteria to take into account when judging a fight.
Clean & Hard punching
Effective Aggression
Defense
Ring Generalship
Clean punching, is punches that land flush on the scoring areas, and not on the gloves elbows or arms. Hard punching should be self explanatory, harder more powerful shots count for more, one big punch can mean more than ten soft jabs. But it is subjective the value give to the varying powers of the punches that land cleanly.
Effective Aggression, the person that is bringing the fight, initiates the exchanges and normally moving forward and pushing there opponent back.
Defense, may include ducking, dodging, bobbing and weaving, parrying, blocking, slipping, and sidestepping, making your opponent miss, or just not throw.
Ring Generalship, dictates the tempo, controls where the fight is, be it in the centre or against the ropes. Cutting off the ring or keeping your opponent where you want him.
The value attributive to each category can be subjective, and thus produce different scorecards.
Hope this helps
