Retire the number 11?

After Ryan giggs finishes his career do you think the club should retire the number 11 if he goes on to break the 1000 appearances record?

To be fair, if he stays on for 1 more season

...............

He should have gone three seasons ago at least.

I know that, you know that....Giggs clearly doesn't know that, and is Moyes going to have the balls to tell him to gtfo? He clearly rates him, as he's played in pretty much every CL & League Cup game, as well as some league games.

Ridiculous idea. Give it to Ashley Young instead.

Jay - Nobody used the term assist, it came from US sports. We didn't keep records of which player provided a cross or through ball. OPTA I think started all these stats in the era of PL.
It's who puts the ball in the net that counts !
You don't need stats to know that the likes of Ozil,Modric,Mata,Beckham create loads of chances for their team mates.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it just too much emphasis on all the stats they love to quote..

Retiring shirts is lame and pointless.

Imagine if in another dimension we were going to sign Messi, but the sticking point was that he wanted the number 11 shirt and we had 'retired' it

No, we are not Americans and this is not basketball or american handball (sorry football)

I used to work in Nigeria a long time ago and ESPN used to show the CL. The american commentary put me off so much, I started watching matches without it.

The shot, the score

No. It's for other players to aspire to wear that shirt. No shirt should ever be retired; it's not in the spirit of football, for me.
