To the Liverpool supporter (can't remember his name),who listed our forthcoming fixtures a few weeks back and wished us good look (I'm sure he was being sincere). His best wishers have worked wonders.

Phil
How do you define a true fan? Some 'fans' live next to the stadium but have never been to a match or pitched in financially while some fan in Indonesia or Australia would literally paint the town red given the same opportunity. Remember also that these guys pay almost double for everything. You wait for the new shirt and find you pay double what a local fan would to get it shipped out to you and incidentally clubs realise this with Liverpool for example opening a new store somewhere in the world every month or so. Also the tours to distant lands and talk of matches being played abroad clearly show where we are heading.
I however agree they are not equals but its not a competition amongst fans but each must be considered a fan in their own right.
Overseas TV providers pay millions of dollars to whoever owns the rights be it sky or bt and you can watch the EPL live from pretty much anywhere in the world, no shortage of suitors. Overseas fans also can watch a wider variety of matches when some are not available locally. Is it not ironic that sometimes you have to illegally stream a match while some guy in Timbuktu watches the same match in HD in his living room?

Redmamba...I was merely asking if you have any affinity with Liverpool as a city and as a club through family etc.
I chose to follow or be a fan of Green Bay Packers purely down to they were on TV the most when I was younger.I had no connections at all to them apart from that,if Chicago, miami etc had more exposure at that time the likelihood is I would have picked them yo follow.
I am not trying to belittle you or your support of Liverpool ,but just asking did you start following them for the same reason I started following the green bay packers many years ago?

As I grew up I fell in love with the game itself to begin with and was naturally attracted to the quality and competitiveness of the EPL as compared to other leagues I found a little drab. I watched and played lotsa fooball as soon as I figured stuff out mainly because of my two older siblings who were obsessed as well.
Started watching lots of EPL around 92 or 93 whenever I could as we moved countries now and then due to my Dads job and by 95 or so I was a die hard red though I'd say I started off neutral and just a fan of the beautiful game. I just loved LFC. No family reasons. My two glory hunting siblings eventually became Utd fans lol. The other one doesnt really care about football and plays sevens rugby especially.

An armchair fan doesn't need any now do they, they get the big game atmosphere from sky.

You find that smaller clubs fans keep going on the most about 'armchair' fans. Still holding on to the eighties lol. Some clubs can fit all their fan base in their stadium so don't have any armchair fans I guess. That right huh Fellaini?

Some clubs exploit the situation of having a big fan base by pricing out the working class due to hiking the ticket prices up year in year out.
Proper supporters suffer, fan boys don't give a toss as they never go the game and it only benefits the owners and the players.
Fan boys will never understand this as their armchairs will always be there, nice warm and cosy and not costing them a penny.Thing is with many fan boys on here they have the audacity to comment on the lack of atmosphere at games when they've never contributed a penny or a moment of their time

As I said before phil. Liverpool can draw on a big fan base....pricing fans out of the match day or just having them subscribe to Liverpool websites etc is okay with them. Many on here talk about being fans....but they should experience the highs and lows of a season. Have the passion to sit through a relegation battle or push for the top.
All well and good sat cheering in the pub, go a game.....start a chant...hug the random bloke you sometimes sit next to

I think the demand and supply also counts to determine the cost of stuff. Not all of us are as lucky as you guys
