A very interesting article to read:

AVB seems very strong tactically with the way he's talking about his philosophy. One of the reasons why I was pleased that he and Di Matteo are our Manager and Assistant this year is because one is a very experienced footballer, and the other was not a professional. The reason I say this is is because at times last year Carlo Ancelotti seemed weak tactically. AVB doesn't use his footballing experience to win trophies, but he uses his exceptional tactical knowledge and you can tell when he talks he seems very intelligent. Moreover we have an experienced footballer and very importantly a former Chelsea footballer in Di Matteo to assist the young manager. AVB has also had a spell as a coach here so he knows some of the players already such as Lampard and Terry.
Overall I think we have established a young and possibly very successful partnership in managing our club which is why I have a very good feeling about this year.

AVB if he's given time he'll be a great manager. Having said that who's to say he isn't already a great one? We'll see at the end of the season...

As much as I've been impressed with AVB and the confidence I've had in him it would be premature to call him great and put him on the same level as managers like Ferguson, Mourinho and Benitez

This comment from AVB got my attention in particular.
"Can’t you use your defensive midfielder to introduce a surprise factor in the match? Let’s say, first he passes horizontally and then, suddenly, vertical penetration?"
This really can be Mikel's chance under AVB to step up from being an ok player to a great one.
I would love him to have a great season and step up a level, but no more excuses, Mikel has to do it this season.

Fascinating interview, but did he have to tell all his secrets to all the other PL clubs?

That's what I was thinking - people like Fergie will be in his study reading that interview and making notes for weeks, months even!
