Mr Mel will of enjoyed that.

Apparently our new head coach was at WHL today watching us.

He will of been very impressed with what he saw. A lot of fringe players given game time today and all impressed. Deffinately our best performance since we got robbed at Chelsea. Speaking of which.... Unbeaten at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, White Hart Lane and Goodison Park so far this season.

Foster and Olsson were top notch and Lugano and Dawsom filled in well in the new defensive line.

Wing backs were a little suspect but were better than usual.

Midfielders did a job. Yacob breaking up play and much better from Mozza and Amalfitano.

The stand out performer were the front man, Vydra and Gera who played just behind him. Vydra could and probably should...of scored at least 2. Looks a lively lad. And Gera just oozes class. Even at his age!

That said the 3 at the bottom all got impressive wins meaning we're now only 1 point from the drop. But a lot of the team just above. (Villa/ Cardiff/ Swans) all lost making it real tight.

So a great point and well done to the lads and to Downing and Kieley who were brave with their team selection today.

Pepe will be happy

Apparently JP wouldn't let Mel bring his own back room team.

I'm not a fan of new managers bringing in their own backroom teams and sweeping away perfectly good coaches just because a manager's been sacked. Steve Clarke worked perfectly well with Downing and Kiely, who himself worked well under Woy, RDM and Tony Mowbray. Kiely's proved his worth time and again. Fair enough bring in or appoint your own assistant head coach, which is what SC did, but the other WBA coaches are perfectly good IMO, as is the head of the academy.

9 teams in 14 years.

Sounds like you are well rid of Pepe Mel.

Anelka and Berahino could work actually.

Downing: "Freshening the team up was the intention. We have a good squad and I trust it."
