It is my belief, and has been some time, that the mentality of the players that we have at spurs, is soft, and many if not most are bottlers.
I reckon (and this is not based on anything aside from my opinion), that if we had won say our last 3 or 4 games back to back that all these "injuries" that half our squad has at the moment would disappear and players would be back playing.
because times are tricky, confidence is low etc etc then in my opinion, these injured players are taking as long to come back as they can, as they simply don't want to face up to the music, that virtually to a man, they have been more or less a disgrace for a good month or so now.
when the heat is on, our lot sprint out of the kitchen.
Thats what sets us apart from arsenal, chelsea, man united and a couple of other teams. its not in the feet, its not lack of ability, its all in the head.
chelsea have a team that when the going gets tough they stand up.
man u have the same
arsenal don't quite have that, but they have a system that they believe in, meaning that when players are injured then fresh ones come in and the train keeps on moving with everyone knowing how and where to play.
as for spurs - the west brom game summed it up. half the squad injured - utter bollox if you ask me… i reckon one or two of those could be back by now if they really wanted to be. score a fantastic goal - concede straight away from a set piece. lack of concentration. lack of heart.
we have no leaders in the side. dawson isn't a leader. he may talk the talk but he's the weak link so it doesn't really work. sandro i suppose is a leader by example, but he's not around at the moment.
who else takes some responsibility and powers the team home like say a yaya toure for man city when the going is tough? no one does it.
we are still just about in touching distance with the action at the top, but we will lose at Old trafford, so it means we have to beat Stoke or i reckon the season is pretty much done, unless you believe spurs have the fight to close a lead?! (we don't).
we can talk about management all we want, and sherwood is a clown for playing without a DM, but at the end of the day, no one in a spurs shirt is taking any responsibility and no one is taking any pride in their performance with the possible exception of the much improved Kyle Walker, and Lamela when he comes on/plays.
the spurs players need to stop feeling sorry for themselves, and get out and play like they mean it.
we have the best away record in the prem, and one of the worst home records, and that is unacceptable, because it shows we have the ability but can't do it under the pressure of our own crowd.
stoke played half a game with 9 men, will be knackered, and lost 5-1. If we cannot beat that lot then we might as well pack up, go home, and starting resting players in the league and chase the cups only.
I dont Trust the 'Injured' Spurs Players

To be fair to Parker we did choke in 10/11 and that was before he even got there! It's like we have the lesser version of the arsenal choke DNA - they do it when chasing the title, we do it chasing 4th

Vertonghen fits the bill. We should have made him skipper when he arrived IMHO. Seems like the type of character who'd thrive on it.

Only a few GBM and he may have been an upgrade on the majority of the team but he hasn't stood out to the level he did at West Ham which is why I really don't think he's playing the football of his life ATM.

Morning Don
Agreed I have seen Spurs win half a dozen FA Cups and an assortment of other cups, and even the league, but they count for nothing in the present era, other than some very good memories. I just think the present squad is a good one, but as I said earlier, some of the senior players need outing, they are simply not good enough. A lot of the new players need to be playing regularly now. The way Lamela is being treated is pretty shabby, OK he has not exactly been pulling up any trees, but he is just not getting a run in the side, like other players, who have not performed any better in my opinion.
The club needs to move on quickly now from the Harry era, and stop feeling sorry for itself.
