Best manager I ever played under at the start of every season used to meet with 5 players at the start. He'd explain that this was his core team and he'd build the team around them. Depending on the players each year it'd sometimes be gk 2 defenders 1 cm and main striker, if we had a new keeper it'd sometimes change to 2 mf's with the defenders and striker.
Thinking on the chat earlier about leaders at spurs it's got me thinking on who Tim would pick if he did this.
I'm thinking Lloris, walker, Dawson, dembele??? And Soldado
Tough to pick ATM especially the midfielder but are these our main core?
It actually worked great btw the core players all felt a responsibility was like having 5 captains.

If you look at the players we have then it should be Lloris, Verts, Sandro, Eriksen, Lamela, Soldado...but right now only the first three could be remotely called 'core'. Walker's not far off at the moment, he seems to be one of the few who really try and make a difference.

We should have a core, but we can't because players aren't playing well enough to make themselves key players.
Look at our 'rivals'
Hart, zabaleta, kompany, toure, silva, aguero...
Mignolet, Johnson, skrtel, Lucas, gerrard, Suarez...
De gea, vidic, carrick, Rooney, RVP...
Chesney, koscielny, mertesacker, Ramsey, giroud...
Cech, *terry, *ramires, *lampard......
*= complete and utter 's. Wouldn't even pee on them if they were on fire....

Hard to believe Mata isn't seen as core for Chelsea now...shame too.
I'd add Negredo to the City list too...the guy's been an absolute beast lately

Then you were probably unlucky, although I suspect there were many posts previous to that.
Admin has said that there was a sustained period where the Liverpool board was bombarded and te only way to control it was by banning.
