January Window

This is The Baggie Man

Hope you guys had a good Christmas and The Baggie Man's best wishes to you all for the New Year.

At midnight next Tuesday we see the opening of the January window which will run to Fri 31 January.

Who might we sell?
Who should we buy?
Who should we dump?
Where do we need to strengthen?
Will we have a new Gaffer or will it be down to Garlick and JP?

Interesting times.....

This was The Baggie Man

Difficult one to call, Baggie Man. If our players played to their potential, the basis on which we signed them, we wouldn't need to be looking at the market. I am really pleased for Nicolas Anelka scoring that brace at West Ham, just a bit disappointed we conceded three goals with what is supposed to be our best defence. I don't know how long we can afford to put up with Liam Ridgewell's lack of speed. LB is a problem for us IMO, so there's one potential area we should look to strengthen.

Ralf Rangnick (sp) is looking like your new gaffer. You got your man at last.

If it was down to me then I would release Rosenberg, sell Long & Dorrans which should bring in £7 or £8 million. See if Anelka wants to cancel his contract, along with Popov. I would then go back in for Quagliarella on loan from Juventus, if be tempted to go in for Bridcut from Brighton for £2.5 million, and try and pick up a new left back. Obviously none of this will happen, but it's nice to dream.

If Hull want to pay up, I'd be willing to sell Long if we can find a good left-back. Vydra and Berahino should be our main two forwards anyway, with Anichebe and Anelka providing competition.

A few fringe players can maybe be sold Rosenberg, Popov and Dorrans, the latter who I would still like to keep but he's probably want to move on himself.

Left-back is the main priority area. Bertrand from Chelsea would be good. Maybe also a natural deep lying midfielder. I know a few on here rate Bridcutt highly.

I would expect Rosie, Popov and Dorrans to move on at a minimum. That should free up cash for a loan move at the very least on a left back which has to be our focus. We have enough options up front and in midfield but concede too easily and our left side is being targeted.
Shane Long? Would be sorry to see him go and unfortunate that he has been deployed in hoofball tactics of the last few weeks but he is at least fourth choice for me at the moment.
