Barnsley drinking holes

Good afternoon Rams fans.

Currently on the Northern Rail twin-carriage locomotive from Alfreton to Barnsley and discussing within my group where we can go for a drink or two before the game without fear of being turned away.

Is there anywhere in Barnsley to go because the rumour is everywhere will turn folk away. Is it worth stopping in Sheffield for an hour?

Cheers!

Been to Barnsley quite a few times currently en route. Pubs around the ground can difficult but round town have no problems, it's whether you are escorted from train station.

But the town is normally very welcoming to away fans, however hear the police will be on top and have concerns with DCFC directly.

Hope that helps

TBR did you get back to Alfreton after the game...took me nearly 3 hours to get to Alfreton on the train

We left the stadium pretty much straight away and followed the crowd towards the train station but after seeing the queues for the trains we decided to head to the Walkabout in town for a couple of beers, managing to evade the police presence. One constable had the audacity to tell us we couldn't go in to the town and that we had to get on to the train immediately. How he could prove we were actually getting a train and not staying in Barnsley etc. I'm not sure.

So we left Walkabout at about 18:35 and as we got the station the train was just about to leave and the six of us crammed on and stood from Barnsley to Alfreton, arriving at 20:00.

we got a train back to Sheffield and then had to change to catch the train that you was on. It's a long time since I've seen that many Derby fans getting off the train at Alfreton. Where do you live TBR

raised in Wessington, schooled in Alfreton, lived in Belper, Been in Ambergate 11 years. We got the 12.05 from Alfreton to Sheffield today and it was 6 carriages. we waited for the 1742 from barnsley back to Alfreton but it didn't turn up until 1836 and then was cancelled at Sheffield.

Oh right. We caught the 10:44 from Alfreton, alighted in Sheffield to visit the local Wetherspoon's (The Benjamin Huntsman, for future reference) for a few cheap beers and then reboarded around 1:30 for Barnsley.

we went in the brewery tap at Sheffield station and then got the 1317 train to Barnsley and sampled a few in the wetherspoons in Barnsley
