Steve Bruce - the best English manager

Just to get away from the gloom that is Villa, does anyone else agree with me that Steve Bruce is the best English manager we have?

Has anyone else taken FOUR different clubs to their best ever Premier League finish?

BIRMINGHAM CITY - Bruce turned Blues into an infuriatingly difficult team to beat and took them to their best ever PL finish of 10th. Unthinkable these days really.

WIGAN - After falling out with the owners at Blues, Bruce turned Wigan into a genuine mid-table PL team. Again, unthinkable today and his achievements at Wigan eclipsed those of the super highly-rated Roberto Martinez. Bruce took Wigan to their highest ever finish.

SUNDERLAND - Bruce was disliked by the fans there from the start, due to his Newcastle allegiance. However, despite this, he still turned Sunderland into a top-half PL team and to their best ever PL finish. Again, unthinkable today. Furthermore, another much-hyped manager, Martin O'Neill was not able to achieve what Bruce did, despite not being able to do anything wrong, in the eyes of the fans.

HULL CITY - Bruce almost became Wolves manager when both Hull and Wolves were in the Championship. A fierce fans' backlash against him though meant that he was not appointed and went to Hull instead. Now Wolves languish in League 1 while Hull are 10th in the Premier League! (Yet another all-time high).

So forget Redknapp. Brucie is England's top manager without a doubt.

he didn't take sunderland to their best ever place and the fans didn't mind him till they lost 5-1 to us. Never really recovered from then. None were against him from the start. don't re-write history m8.

I wouldn't say it is unthinkable that Birmingham City could finish in the top 10 nowadays.

It wasn't so long back they went a year unbeaten in the PL at home and secured 9th place.

If the owners can sort themselves out, the fans return and they get rid of Lee Clark, they would certainly get back to the PL and like Hull are showing now, the top 10 isn't impossible.

In his last few months at Sunderland they really were absolutely dire.

Obviously though he isn't the only one to fall short at that club.
