Preece was initially at fault in the build up to the goal,
he should have shouted keepers ball and caught the first header across his goal, he showed no domination of his 6 yard box, having said that the header away by McNulty was a powder puff effort, should have dealt with it better, this player is no central defender IMO,

Agree with a few points here; I feel Preece should have commanded his area and come for the initial ball, but once the defenders took over they had two or three chances to clear. It was like the Keystone Cops.

Addison was ineffective, and I question why we played with him as 'sweeper', effectively in a back 5, at home. Doyle is also a defensive midfielder, so essentially it was a very negative set-up.

Perkins showed glimpses of promise but without any end product. McNulty was out of his depth and McEverley was simply hopeless.

Chapelow had to go; it was right in front of us in the East Stand and he clearly stamped. Stupid.

As for the booing, that's just idiotic; yes, it was truly awful, but booing in the first home league game? With any luck those brainless neanderthals won't come back.

From watching it, I think Preece probably could have called for it and claimed it and also the near post where the header went in should have been covered better from both McNulty and Preece.

However, S'hampton had plenty of chances and should really have been 2 or 3 up. I think Preece made enough good saves to redeem himself. My only real grumble with him is that it seem to take him ages to distrubute the ball from goal.

Also Perkins really put a shift in yesterday, I was pleased with his work rate, but if he is to play in this division there are so many aspects of his game he needs to work on.

The only reason Preece never got near the ball is because he didn't move his feet. Nor does he command the area or communicate with defenders. On yesterdays showing if Hill continues with one up front especially at home it needs two wide men, Vaz-Te may be a showman but he has flair and will run at defenders, apart from Davies he was the only player who took the game to the opposition. Southampton are a class team and will be promoted but as Hill said after the game the two full backs had nothing to occupy them and became attackers down the flanks.

The goal was down to shocking defending, right from the keeper to all four defenders. Preece had more than one chance to claim the ball but didnt. The defenders head tennis was diabolical and no better than league 2 football from league 2 players.

We played with 2 ineffectual central defensive midfielders. Addison looked slow and laboured and only had one moment of inspiration where he surged forward. Doyle has never been able to pass.!! As someone has already said this resulted in no service to the front player(s). Our most threatening/dangerous looking player, Haynes, starts out wide.?????

The sending off was correct, watching the replay over you can see Chaplow deliberately throws his foot in to McEveley.

Poor attendance for the first home game of the season. Down 3 thousand on 2 years ago... Are people waiting to see how we perform before spending money. I came to see if there had been an improvement though was concerned by the signings we'd made. looks like my fears were justified...

How many times have I heard ....''its only a couple of games in''...''give them a chance'' ......I can't remember the last time any of us said 'Great second result.... 6 points.....bring it on etc etc. I'm not saying its wrong to be cautious or pessamistic but it would be nice just to start a season once in a while with a bit of cheer instead of staring down the barrel of a gun ...more so this season with the quality of teams whats in this league. I genuinely think we will be tanked by cricket scores in some away games... but its the teams around us that we must put away clinically..... home and away. Some nutter I can't remember who, did a predictions list earlier in the close season and suggested most games would be losses. Come on lads wake up and smell the coffee. We can do a lot better than the relegation armchair monkeys, fairweather supporters and Cup Run ticket thieves will have us believe.

Times are hard for people in the town at the moment, but the club needs every one of them to support the club through good and bad times.
Reduced attendance's will mean less cash available to invest in better players, as we are discovering at the moment, we have to live within our means.
Yes the last 2 games have been poor, but give the team a chance to turn it around, those games are gone, bring on the Boro.
We have a new managerial set up and some players that are new to the demands of championship football, let them find their feet before you judge them, how would you feel if some of them turned out to be prized assets come the transfer window.
